Well this has definitely shot down any chance of me pre-ordering Mass Effect 3.

I'm definitely going to wait for the demo now.

Mass effect is already a shooter rpg. They supposedly have expanded the skill trees and customisation, brought back weapon mods and vastly improved the shooting (I'm guesing this one they were thinking of when they made that statment). These are good things and definitely not dumbing down. So long as it’s still based around RPing, choices and the dialogue its fine.

BioWare knows what they're doing, they have one of the best reputations of all modern game developers-- and with that reputation comes freedom, so EA will have most likely let BW do their own thing because BW's got a good track record.

Apparently a good portion of the fanbase here has never followed the details coming out of one of these meetings before. It's always like this. Just like how we never get any real info out of a Q+A session, we will always get investor speak that confuses various things but tells us nothing new. With the possible exception of release dates (and even then it's usually only fiscal year dates).

This. I'm not a games developer but I would have thought for a game with the scale of ME that they would have to decide on multiplayer during pre-production as it would be a rather vast undertaking all in all.

That going together with the fact early previews seem to have gone out of their way to say that multiplayer WON'T be added and the fact that if they were going to add it, it would make sense to market it as a main feature from the earliest possible point makes me wonder when people will stop worrying about it. Oh what am I saying some people will never stop worrying about it.

The minute EA bought Bioware I KNEW this was gonna happen. The massive milking of the franchise. The porting to the ps3 and betrayal of the 360 fanbase that STARTED this whole glorious new franchise.

And now this. I'm just disgusted by EA/Bioware now.

Again... proof? Give me links, sources, any actual verifiable evidence to sway my opinion and start claiming the sky is falling... or else, you quite simply fail. That DA2 failed was not the fault of the ME team; it was due to the DA team. Stop fearing what isn't there.

I'm not fearing. At this point I simply don't care. If you want to be naive then by all means go right ahead.

At the end of the day its still BIOWARE. You can give me all the bs excuses (oh its this team not that team) and oh my its Mass Effect 3 and not DA2 (2 completely different games! OH MY!).

But the cold hard facts are this

1) EA owns Bioware
2) Bioware sold out and is now in the business of making money
3) In order to make said money they have betrayed the 360 fanbase, milked out the franchise with horrible comics and mediocre novels, and probably a crappy movie in the future.

4) Mass Effect 3 will get the usual EA marketing blitz and as awesome as Mass Effect 2 was..that's how mediocre ME3 is going to be.

That's all I have to say on the subject. History is simply repeating itself here.

And while I hope its way too late to add multiplayer I honestly won't bat an eyelash when it appears in the final product. Cuz thats what EA is and what Bioware has become.

Goodnight everyone. I just comfort myself with the fact that Mass Effect 1 (the true gem in this series) will ALWAYS be a 360 Exclusive and the one and only Mass Effect title WITHOUT the taint of Electronic Arts

EDIT: To address your PC portion of your post...who cares about PC gaming? Its dying outside of World of Warcraft.

I could care less about PC gaming. Its not a threat to any console system.  Hence why Mass Effect 1 is and will ALWAYS be a 360 EXCLUSIVE.

It can never be played on the ps3 and thats a good thing.

It's marketing speak to assuage worried investors.  I'm a fan of the Mass Effect series and the delay strikes me as good news.  DA2 sucked because it was rushed.  They're not going to rush ME3.

Its so sad when you think about how far this franchise has fallen. Mass Effect Evolution was just the ultimate trainwreck of story telling and IF that's the type of quality that Bioware and EA are looking to put out for Mass Effect 3 all I can say is

You are correct. It's still BioWare. However:

1. Yes, EA owns BioWare. So what?

2. BioWare sold out? Proof? Or are you just a fanboy like those idiots that raged on Metallica and those like them for going "mainstream" in the music industry? Oh, also... You Fail Business Forever: EVERY BUSINESS WANTS TO MAKE MONEY!!! THAT IS HOW THEY ARE ABLE TO GET WHAT THEY NEED TO MAKE WHAT THEY MAKE!

3a. Betrayed the 360 fanbase? They hold no loyalty to the Xbox 360 platform-- no company is obligated to continually make games for specific platforms. So, GTA4 going onto the 360 and not merely staying with the PlayStation was a "betrayal" by Rockstar towards the PlayStation fanbase... or, so says your logic.

3b. Mediocre novels and comics? That is your opinion, so stop parading it as fact.


4. You know this how? EA is not some tyrant that makes crappy games to troll gamers. They're a company. They want money, and need to make money. If what they churn out is mediocre (and whether or not it is mediocre is a matter of opinion, ultimately), then that's their fault, but it's no reason to utterly hate them simply for making the money needed to support the workers of the company.

All in all, and no offense intended... but you just seem like an Xbox 360 fanboy with your ranting, and you're not showing me anything to make me think you're right in your assessments.

And the ultimate irony in that? I own a 360, and most of my games are for it! I support the 360 out of the Big Three consoles, but I'm NOT some ignorant fanboy that goes: "OH NOEZ, MASS EFFECT IS GONNA SUCK BECAUSE BIOWARE SOLD OUT, HERP-A-DERP DERP!"

Bottom line: Shut up, quit whining, and ENJOY THE GAME FOR WHAT IT IS, WHEN IT ACTUALLY GETS RELEASED!
