This is fun to watch. I mean i love the Bioware fans but they are so quick to take one article and blow it up completely out of proportion into an issue when we have yet to see one shred of game play or anything for that matter!

No they said or he said less like ME1 and more inline with the 'direction' that ME2 was heading.

ME2 was heading more towards shooter and less RPG (imho) so thats why I replied "No". The time extension I welcome and see as a good thing however it came hand in hand with that above (type) statement which concerns me a little.

Here's how I see it:

"One of the things that Ray Muzyuka and the team up in Edmonton have done is
essentially step-by-step adjust the gameplay mechanics and some of the
features that you'll see at E3 to put this in a genre equivalent to
shooter meets-RPG, and essentially address a much larger
market opportunity
than Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2 began to
approach."

TRANSLATED: We are trying to improve both the shooter and RPG elements so we can capture both audiences.

"We're huge believers in the IP and are purposefully shifting it to address a larger market opportunity."

TRANSLATED: We moved the release date so we don't have the compete with Skyrim.

I'm really unsure about your analysis of the "market opportunity" thing. I felt like it was the usual "We want the COD crowd".

probably they do...all comapanies like zombie customers

Which they were already aiming for, if you read the GI article--they already stated they need to be able to compete with games like Gear of War.

It should be no surprise that shooter elements are being improved.  However, they are not making the mistake of sacrificing one genre for the other this time, hence the enriched RPG elements (customization and skill trees).

You know, just once, I wish these marketing weasels would give us a straight answer.

"Why was ME3 delayed?"

"Because it AIN'T DONE YET, f*ckers!"

They can't do that; they're a totally different species.

Anyways.... all I'm reading here, is THIS:

OMG BIOWARE'S TWEAKING THE GAME!!! THEY MUST BE DUMBING DOWN ALL THE RPG ELEMENTS AND PUTTING MORE SHOOTER STUFF IN, BECAUSE THERE'S NO OTHER POSSIBLE REASON TO TWEAK THE GAME!!!!

Yeah. Right. Stop whining, guys. I read the OP and got no indication whatsoever that the "larger marketing opportunity" is equal to "ZOMG CALL OF HALO: MODERN GEARS!!!1"

I'm pretty damn sure someone from BioWare has been reading this (maybe Casey Hudson himself), and I bet they're laughing their asses off at how idiotic you guys sound. Seriously, shut up and show some faith, will you, guys? BioWare knows what they're doing, they have one of the best reputations of all modern game developers-- and with that reputation comes freedom, so EA will have most likely let BW do their own thing because BW's got a good track record.

"BUT BUT BUT-- IT'LL BE LIKE DA2!!!!1"

Really? Who says? Got any solid evidence to that? And is the Mass Effect team also working on Dragon Age at the same time? If you think that, then You Fail Gaming Forever, because companies working on multiple games use separate teams for each respective franchise.

TL;DR

Shut up, and grow up, please.

LOL you speak the truth.

This thread is giving me bad memories of DA2's development. Let us hope the ME crowd can handle changes to the game a bit more maturely, eh? Nothing wrong with a bigger audience, more money for EA/Bioware means more games for us in the future.

I'm not so quick to judge; I'm mostly impartial until the actual gameplay footage. But... when such a thing is addressed, by an EA representitve no less, it really puts up a flag of caution.

Taking more time to get the game right can only be a good thing. I am really looking forward to the E3 vids :D DA2 was rushed. Rushing is bad.

Seriously, folks. I'd ask for civil behavior from some of you, but what's the point?

Locking thread, bans in progress.
