I own both ME1 and 2 on DVD. Neither of these games will install on my pc. With ME2, I get an error message saying "Installation error - a data error has occurred" at random times during install. ME1 is the "saferun.exe" problem. I have read various similar posts on support forums, with a morass of ever more complicated solutions and workarounds. Not being particularly skilled with computers, the only one I have tried is to run the datasetup.exe file off the DVD. It didn't make much difference, although I got to disc2 before the stupid crash occurred.
Frankly, I can't be bothered to spend ages trying to get a game to install off dvd when all it should involve is putting the bloody disc in the drive and installing. Bioware, you suck! And games manufacturers wonder why people pirate their games? Simple answer: it is infinitely easier to install a pirated game than the official copy, and you often don't need a constant internet connection to play the thing.
Anyway, I digress. Is there a simple way to get this game to work, or do I have to go out and get an "unofficial" copy?
What is wrong with these games? no really, wtf?

Is it just the ME games or have you tried anything else recently?

The problem lies with your computer, not the game itself. Post your computer specs and maybe we can help.
