Well, first time I've ever started a thread on the Bsn:).

Not sure if this is the right forum(if it isn't feel free to move it wherever you see fit).

Anyways, here goes.

Earlier today I purchased a new laptop.

Whether it could run games or not wasn't a consideration in the purchase, just wanted a good and fairly inexpensive laptop to replace the one that just died.

But after looking at the DAO sys requirements, I started to wonder if this laptop could possibly run Origins.

Here are my laptops specs:

AMD Athalon II Dual-Core Processor P340(2.2GHz 1MB L2 Cache)
320GB(5400RPM) Hard Drive
3072MB DDR3 SDRAM(2 Dimm)
AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 Graphics

I already have Origins for the Xbox, but the PC version would be cool, with mods and such.

So, if any of the more tech savy folks would like to offer their input, that would be great.

Once again, if i posted this in the wrong forum, I apologize.

Thanks:)

You meet the requirements for the minimum settings. A little below the recommended on the processor speed but it should run

 Cool,  thanks:).

If anyone else  would like to offer their input, please do.

The more viewpoints, the better:D.

Edited for spelling and punctuation.

The first responder is wrong. An actual, real, discrete graphics card on its own circuit board is required to meet the minimum, and you have none. The onboard chipset video chip that you have doesn't count, sorry.

Video: ATI Radeon X850 256MB or greater (this is clearly wrong)
NVIDIA GeForce "6600 GT" 128MB or greater (and this one is more wrong)

(Note: IMO, the practical choices for the two video cards above should be the Radeon X800 Pro, and the Geforce 6800 GS, at least, for small textures - it will take a Radeon X1650 XT (or X1800 GTO, same thing, almost) for medium or better textures)

INTEL'S GARBAGE (Graphics Chip) IS NOT SUPPORTED

No one's "chip video" is supported, not Sandy Bridge, not HD 4250. It is likely that at the very lowest quality settings and the lowest resolution, many chipset devices will "sort of" play, if you like the results watered down that way.

Comparative "Newness" is irrelevant unless you buy a GAMING machine:

The HD 4250 will play the game and I can tell you that first hand as I have it in my tower at the moment.

Define "Play" why don't you. It's crap, and the results from it are substandard, exactly as they are supposed to be.

Play meaning the game runs. If you look on any video card Hierarchy the HD 4200 is the same Tier as the X1550 which is the MINIMUM required to run the game. If you read the first post I told him that him meets MINIMUM system requirement and that he was below recommended. The answer to his initial question stands with he can run the game. I never said it was going to be blazing with all of the best quality HD graphics and everything. The question was will it run it, the answer is yes

Welcome aboard.  Your laptop might run the game... it's at the bare minimum, as others have said... but those are for desktops.  A laptop always trades some performance for mobility.

Let me suggest this...down load the Dragon Age 2 demo (it's free) and see if that will run on your machine on the lowest settings.  Now, here's the thing...  DAO will probably run a little *slower*... its code is not as optimized as the sequel.  But it might be informative.

Hmm, that never occured to me thanks.:)

Mind you, this isn't something I'm agonizing over or anything.

I have the game for XBox, and it's been a great experience.

Additional modded content is something that definately interests me though.

Play DA:O in XBOX actually is not so convenient as playing on PC. So if you have a chance to play on PC, try it!!!

 Well, downloaded and played demo..

It ran perfectly fine.

Even the demo(low?) settings were graphically better than on my Xbox 360.

Guess I'll give Origins a try:).
