First off specs:
i5-2500k
8gb ram running at 1600
gtx-460
windows 7 ultimate

I recently downloaded Dragon age: origins ultimate edition on steam and have started playing it.
It has run perfectly up until now, so here is the problem I am having.

I'm doing the circle of the magi quest and am currently in the fade, in particular the problem occurs in mages asunder.
There is one particular area where you take a spirit door to an area with a mouse hole, all told there are 4 stat point fonts in the area.
I can enter the area without issue, pick up the first font, at this point I can still return.
However, if i take the mouse hole to the next area where the other 3 fonts lie and try to return to the main area through the spirit door, the game is then stuck loading forever...I've left it there for like 10 minutes just to see if anything would happen, and nope.

Now, I've tried multiple variations of the same situation. Picking up the first font and leaving, this works.
Picking up the first font, saving, then loading, and trying to walk through does not! Note: this is without ever having gone through the mouse hole. It seems that whatever is occuring happens when the cache for the previous area is cleared upon travelling to a new area, or upon reloading, and the game is unable to determine what it is supposed to be loading.

Picking up the font, going through the mouse hole to pick up the next 3 fonts also results in inablility to return.

My game is fully updated, I have Awakening and all sorts of fancy DLC stuff installed as well.

One other thing that I have noticed is that I can interact with things, such as: I can open the main menu, map, party screen, character screen etc. or rather, I can HEAR these things open, my screen just flashes loading... over and over and over ad nauseum until i attempt to force it to shutdown.
