If I understand correctly, the OP is referring to people who feel their particular gaming console (or PC) makes them somehow superior to people with a different gaming console.
Personally, I fail to see how this is a serious problem for anyone. I simply ignore people like that.
The video seems to be much more about a personal dispute between two trolls, not really any sort of universal problem.

Aaah, I see now...well, I think that it's a silly dispute, actually. To each his own way of gaming, I say. You got people who switch off the lights when gaming, you got people who dress up like their character when gaming (not me, seriously, I'm too lazy for such things) It's a personal choice and I don't really care.

On games in general: I resort to elitism somewhat myself but mostly it originates on my distaste towards people who won't bother checking the internet/manual/common sense for advise or towards people who won't listen to those who clearly know the facts already. This applies mostly to MMOs. Not playing with someone just because the are playing the game for the first time is completely idiotic, though. Ahhh, if only everyone was an expert at everything, would make working-life so much easier!
As for PC vs. Consoles...ouch. Well, in general, I have a rather large distaste towards consoles and even laptops but this is mostly due to my own origins when it comes to gaming. I started with C64 and Amiga 500 which were consoles I guess and the "real evolution" was getting our first 486 PC when I was 11. The amount of possibilities a PC possesses completely overwhelmed me and still does at times. Consoles have come far but if I have to choose where to put my money, consoles don't even get on the list. PC I use for gaming, surfing, betting, checking TV programs, chatting, editing pictures, writing, e-mailing, looking for work, updating my CV...hell, I could go on forever. Our Playstation 3? I might watch a movie....sometimes. If we only talk about games, then I don't really care. "Consolisation" always leaves some sort of a mark on a game but it hardly bothers me, seeing as one of my favorite games has been Soul Reaver 2 on PC which had some pretty insane controls and camera angles at time.
What I don't like is people QQing how PC "gets more" when it comes to some games cos' obviously...the PC simply has so much more usability. If you bought Oblivion on a console, then it really is YOUR fault that you can't use mods.

One site i'm on has a Karma system where you click to vote "+1 Cool", "+1 Ditto" or "-1 Flamebait". If the post gets enough -1's on it, it will be made invisible unless you click to view it. So that works provided you don't have a bunch of a raging Elitists foaming at the mouth at the sight of someone with a different opinion.
