These games aggrivate me sometimes...

Love my Mage, very fun to play. After getting to lvl 15, reading these forums, and realizing how much i missed with certain spells and specs. I think i am going to restart another mage.

Question is this....

Trying to think of a preferable order in which to play again.

Im thinking going with Mage tower to get Wynne... getting Shale.... then heading to get Oghren, i feel like i missed out on some good convos with him.

In which order do people like to run the game?

I restarted my Mage about 4 times before finally continuing. And now I even think of making another Mage... but I'll work on that Archer first...

At any rate I personally go for this:
1. Redcliffe Village -> Castle
2. Circle Tower
3. Urn of Sacred Ashes
4. Dalish Elves
5. Orzammar

Between 3 and 4 I completed Warden's Keep, and between 4 and 5 I did the Stone Prisoner. That's how I did it on my mage, anyway. Of course I didn't need Wynne either, as my Mage was my healer.

I love playing as the AoE mage... definitely going to unlock Blood Magic this time going with that and AW. May need Wynne early on for heals.

the game has a level scaling system so you can basically do any area at any time, but its a weighted scale so some areas are naturally harder than others. in order of difficulty weighting from least to greatest.

least

1. Circle Tower

2. Redcliffe Village

3. Brecilian Forest

4. Andraste's Ashes sequence

5. Denerim

6. Orzamar

greatest

but keep in mind that within each area there is also difficulty variation. so the lower ruins in Brecilian Forest are harder than the rest. The Deep Roads in Orzamar are harder than the rest, etc.

in terms of benefits it doesn't make a huge difference where you go to first. starting at the Circle Tower is natural since its both relatively easy and gives you Wynne.

Seems like a good plan... so getting Ohgrem earlier doesn benefit in anyway? But yes, Deep Roads is tough thats for sure

I tend to do the circle tower first for the stat bonuses. At the beginning they're very nice. This playthrough going to do Orzammar second, even if it's a pain, so I can have Oghren in my group for a while.

I'm on my second mage myself. First character I ever created was a mage. Then I tried a warrior, and played around with a rogue. Deleted them all, and started a brand new mage (the one I have now) with a greater understanding of the game. I loove my mage. I just can't figure out what to specialize in lol.

Oghren doesn't have any benefits in particular no. If you want an early melee DPS you can always take Sten. Though if you simply love Oghren then get him earlier.

Yeah, made a lot of misakes with my Mage, but still managed to do well so far.. would be nice to play another one with more of an understanding.

I am not sure what the deal is unless it's game difficulty. I started my first play thru (on Normal difficulty) with an elf mage maid (elfmaid mage? elf-made mage?). Even tho I really didn't know what I was doing in skill selection, I am past the Landsmeet now.

One thing that helped me early on was building up my nature and fire tiers to max
