males are far more likely to resort to violence, while females are more likely to fallow a community pattern

And that's presumably sexist; it's also probably true due to simple biology; e.g. in animals, a group with a single male and multiple females is rather more stable than a single female and multiple males (as males tend to kill competitors).

Edit: @jamesp81 : Really? Could you come up with any more juvenile arguments? Ah well, just another idiot - rape is such a funny topic! </sarcasm>

it just freaks me out that all the women remained submissive and all the men became rebellious. Does neural degradation cause gender stereotypes?

But they were submissive because of that toxic food, no? Toxic food makes people retarded.

It is a little weird that not even one woman turned aggressive, that's true.

It's got a few unfortunate implications in there - and I wonder at the apparent lack of female officers - but Bioware generally are good on this sort of thing.

I think this topic needs to stop. Just because an issue involves men and women in different roles does not mean it is sexist. Lesson learned.

So what would make it sexist?

If at any point any of the character who were not:
A: Fillied with mind altering Toxin
B: Jacob's crazy ass dad

Had said something along the lines of "A planet of meek women? I see nothing wrong with this, it is thier place to serve men."

That would have been sexist.

Or had some one cracked a "make me a sammich" joke.

The effects of the toxic food reduced the human intelligence to the anima/animus part of the brain. The crew members devolved to the mental capacity of neanderthals pretty much; as how people were 300,000 years ago... and that would definitley include their social psychology.

Sexist? No, at least not for those who ate the toxic food. The toxin just seems to inhibit the parts of the brain that make you "modern." Reducing the crew into primitives driven by base urges rather than full on rational though.

The way the logs told it, that doctor that gave you the datapad should have forgotten about you the moment you turned the corner.

Jacob's loyalty mission = disturbed.

The group had 99% of the crew had eaten food that causes them to go back to more primal roles that are inherent in all people it's simply that they no longer wished to hide this roles instinct and reverted back to it. You think all those women where happy being dominated? No they weren't but they were smart enough to realize that being the **** who wants to hack the mechs is the #1 way to end up dead and they wanted to preserve their lives. So it's not sexest its survival deal.

The men who fled knew better then to go into the camps and kidnap any of the women most seemed to be too out for blood to care if their girlfriend or anyone they were once close to lived inside the camp and had a desire to bust them out. The men fought the mechs and any male crew not on their side. Later they ended up just shooting anything that moved out of the camp. Males are naturally aggressive women are naturally not.

Jacob's loyalty mission should have clearly been about his mother Ronalda Taylor leading a harem of male crewmembers.

I for one agree with this assessment.

There is an assumption here that females in a more "primitive" state were by nature "submissive. Observations of females in out two closest ape relations currently in existence show that females are far from submissive, and in the case of the Bonobo species, are the dominate members of their societies. They are VERY capable of extreme aggression. Even in the chimpanzee species that we are most familiar with, where the males are without a doubt dominant, females will attack viciously if cornered, and low ranking males know better then to mess with the higher ranked females, or they can risk a nasty injury. There is no sure evidence as to what early social structures look like. There is debate the monogamy arose very early in human evolution, and in fact might be what made us human. Couple that with the fact that only gorillas in the great ape family live in a harem dominated by a single male, saying that females acquiescing to a harem is somehow hardwired into our primitive brains is not in line with the evidence.
That being said, while the situation may have been sexist, I believe it was with a purpose. It was making a point and telling a story, so in this case I feel it works. It certainly left me feeling horrified.

Men are natrally more agressive then Women.

Want and example....

Put  a group of 12 year old boys in a room and leave, come back and your find the room in total chaos.

Put  a group of 12 year old girl in a room and leave, come back and your find the room is fine.

The example is poor. Being 12year old means that they have incorporated role models. That's why the difference is made between sex and gender. Men and women are different by gender, but this is social constructed. I think men and women are different by sex, means by nature, but it's hard to say what these differences are. Simply said "Testosteron", jes i also think this is important.

There was at least one female officer....the doctor.  You even talked to her just before rigging the mech to explode to clear a path.

I suspect that women are 1) less likely to resort to violence and 2) didn't need to since the mechs weren't being sent to attack them, after all.

Not the place for this, but there's a difference between sex and gender.  Boys and girls form gender schemes as they develop, internalizing behaviors perceived as acceptable for their sex.  In western culture, it's acceptable for men to be aggressive and women to be passive, so children cannot help but begin to adopt these roles unconsciously.  People are a, in essence, a massive combination of interacting cultures.  No one exists in the vacuum necessary to prove your point.

In any event, whether or not the loyalty mission is sexist might not be the best question.  I would ask if it has a patriarchal message.  It does, if you play as a male Shepard- a brave male hero rushing in to save a flock of helpless women.  But if you're playing as a female Shepard there could be other implications.

Men are more agressive because we're the "dominant" sex.

Nowadays we have a civillized society, where you don't have to rely on strength to prosper and men and women are both capable to succeed in their own merits.

However, back in the old days, when things were a lot rougher, women had to rely on men for protection and heavy manual larbor.

That's probably why nature made men physically stronger and more willing to fight.

Nature is racist, in nearly every animal society the males are always the ones fighting over the right to mate with females! Jesus Christ why is it so unfair that a good story happens to have a male character in charge and people going back to their primitive state!

I vote making bland story lines so no religion, culture, belief, sexual oriantation and gender can become offended in any single way possible! :'(
