Despite the backlash of DA2, it still managed to sell over 2 million copies.

That is interesting; I had not seen this.  Then Jazz does have a legitimate fear here: DA2 will probably be considerably more profitable than DA:O.  Even if it does not hit 4 million, it cost a lot less to make.

But then I always thought DA:O was a "meh" game.  Too much like the stuff I have been playing for 30+ years.

A) The Mass Effect is an Action RPG game. That means light on "traditional" RPG and heavy on the action.

B) As much as I love my RPG elements; I did find that ME1 had too many RPG elements for RPG-****-sakes; while ME2 swung the other way and had too many Action element's for the "main stream FPS crowd" at the expense of minor RPG cues.

C) The only thing missing from this thread is Terror_K stating how "concept X Y and Z" is immersion breaking.

This is a "shock" i think you better "wave" goodbye, make sure to "pull" yourself back up and don't "charge" at us when you do.

Nicely done.

I'm closing this because it's centered on the direction of BioWare as a company, and NOT on Mass Effect entirely.

I seriously don't know where these memories of ME1 being a "hardcore RPG" stem from but ME1 was already lite on RPG elements to begin with, and had a lot of unfinished features, and most of the items taken out/improved on with ME2 are features that really having nothing to do with traditional RPG's at all.

Take it to the off topic
