How do people feel about the choice to make a full romance of Isabela possible only if you ask her about love in your first post-coital moment?  At first blush, it seems strange to me that Hawke has no opportunity to treat their initial encounter casually but come to have more serious feelings fpr her later.

I have not actually played through the full romance, so maybe those of you who have will feel like it makes perfect sense.  But my Hawke was intrigued by her from first meeting but not the sort of fellow who talks about love much.  After she came back with the book, I probably would have been willing to start saying more serious-sounding kinds of things, too, so it's not like a more serious romance wouldn't have appealed to me.

I feel like Isabela could be open to a casual encounter turning into something more serious over time, but maybe there's a character-level explanation that I'm missing from not having played through her full romance.  So, I'd be very curious about that.

I'd also be curious if there are others of you out there like me, who would have enjoyed the chance to treat the first encounter relatively casually (but respectfully) only to have serious feelings grow over time (which seems much more realistic anyway).

Many folks I know (myself included) think that Isabela could have already begun sleeping with Hawke off screen before that initial encounter, and the love talk was actually what made that particular instance warrant mentioning.

I agree with hooray. Isabela suggest some booty plundering as soon as you finished her recruitment-quest and Hawke looks pretty intrigued by that offer. He could have boarded her ship quite often before the whole talk about feelings came up.

That's pretty much what I think.  Truth be told, I think they should've had you sleep with her first then later when you sleep with her again and it comes up.

This is interesting.  While I was definitely in that boat, it did not even ocurr to me that this was a possibility, even as I wondered why it was taking so long.  I find the idea appealing, but what's the strongest indication we have that it might be actually true?

At the very least they could have your background companion chatter go on about Hawke and Isabela knocking boots before your night at Hawke's place. Heck, listening to the background chatter I discovered that Isabela and Fenris were having a fling, although I don't know if you get that if you two are item. It was also nice to hear Varric tease Isabela about her fling with Hawke if you two decide to move on.

My problem is that I'm having trouble getting a rivalry romance with her. I HATE metagaming, but even my "good two shoes" Hawke gets too many friendship points to get a full rivalry, and she runs off at the end of Act 2. Oh well.

I like the idea that it was not the first time with Isabella that could be true.
Fenris though is a virgin.. well sort of, I can see her having been with Carver and Varric though.

No not Varric.. she does not list any dwarves other than one in drag "hang on.. Bianca."
The other LI's would take too much to work around for me, especially the two male ones.

Her friendship thing is a pain, I love it I just couldn't make her PO either due to role choices.

However be nasty to her, never demand payment do everything for duty or honour.
For the wharehouse and poison mission treat her friend mean.
For extra points take the mission to find the missing wife in chapter 1, she hates you no matter what for this.
