I am facing a tough choice in deciding whether to purchase a pc version or ps3 version of the game.

I heard that the control of the ps3 is quite different from the pc version. I loved Burlder's Gate series, I would definitely love to play it that way. but my laptop does not meet the minimum requirement - I got a Nvida 8400M GS, only 128M memory. So, probably it cannot run the game. I get a ps3 too, but I just don't like the idea of play this game as if it is any other action game.

Really troubled. any suggestion?

I don't see what I can offer you. You don't have a PC capable of playing it. You do have a PS3.

I had the same problem. My laptop is minimum specs too. To avoid the possibility of lag, I just went for the PS3 version.

Taleroth is right. You don't have much of a choice. It sounds like it's the PS3 for you.

Check out the Giantbomb xbox 360 quicklook. That will give you an idea of how the PS3 version will play, since ps3 and xbox versions are virtually identical. It's not controlled like Baldur's gate on console - it's more like KOTOR.

If you don't meet the minimum spec I'd obviously not buy the PC version, the PS3 version will look and play better and frankly it might not work at all on your PC and if it doesn't you'll have no come back as the spec is on the box.

The PC version does allow you to zoom out for a BG like view which the PS3 & 360 versions don't. Also there is the toolset & you will be able to easily download player made content. But if your PC can't run it or can't run it well that doesn't really matter.

You cant zoom out for the top-down view on consoles, and the menus are a bit different. There isnt any other difference Ive heard of(other than a bit smaller massive battles), and your PC wont run it. So play it on the PS3, or get a new computer?

What does your heart tell you?

Seriously, I don't think you'll be dissapointed with whatever platform you choose to go with. You can still pause and use tactics on the consoles. Sure, the tactical "rts" view isn't there on the consoles, but I've heard that people who played the game mostly played with the camera closer to the character.
I've had the same problem as you. PC, or 360 though. And I haven't chosen one yet. I've pre-ordered for PC, even though I won't be able to runt it on anymore than little under medium. Thinking about canceling my order and get it for the 360 until I can afford a new computer.

If you don't meet the min spec, you'll have to spend more money on upgrades. I'd go with the PS3 version.

Eh, it all depends on how important graphics are for you - there really is no doubt that it will better on the PS3. On the other hand, I have played through a couple games using that graphics card that I had absolutely no right to be able to play, such as Fallout 3 and Mass Effect, and while they certainty weren't as pretty as they could have been, they played fine and it didn't take too much away for me.

However, as with all things, your mileage may vary.

If you don't meet the min spec for this game, there probably aren't many new games you'll be able to play on your laptop. So... is this a good enough excuse to buy a new PC for gaming on? That's the question you need to ask yourself. If not, the PS3 version will still be there as an option, and by all accounts it will not suck.

Looks like it's PS3 version for you...you said it yourself, your laptop doesn't meet minimal specs, so unless you want to go to some likely expensive last-minute upgrades, I don't see other options...

Like the others have said, unless you want to spend money for an upgrade, your probably better off getting the ps3 version.

Thanks guys. It seems that the ps3 one is what I have to get. Hope it won't be too much like playing KOTOR.

Why not rent the console version and see if it's worth buying, if not buy the PC version. I for one couldn't even begin to imagine playing a serious CRPG on a console.

I currently have mine ordered for PS3 because like you I don't have an update enough computer to run it so have to play it on a console. Besides you can always get it for PC whenever you get a new PC if you want to play it on PC that badly.

Buy a Xbox360... just kidding :D But you should play on a console if your PC isn't good enough. Or buy a better laptop.
