I would really appreciate it if it was a little larger. Also, it would be nice if the stand was made of wood and was a bit curved, with the Normandy pointing upwards + a bit titled to one side.

Is Paypal charged on placement of order or will it be charged when it ships? I can't remember how these pre-sales work.

Thank you.

A couple questions before I throw [even more of] my money at BioWare...

1) ...why is it blue? And why is there a Systems Alliance emblem on it now? ...or are those changes that will make more sense once ME3 comes out? (From what I've heard so far, it's sounding like Cerberus is trying kill Shepard, possibly regardless of your actions in ME2... maybe Shepard goes back to the Alliance and takes the Normandy with him or her, and so they repaint it and make it an official Alliance vessel? If that's the case, alrighty, fair enough. Since we haven't seen it that way in game yet, though, it looks a little unusual.)

2) Is this a limited edition thing, or will there be as many made as you can possibly sell?

3) A while back there was talk of a possible limited collector's edition for ME3, which would be the normal collector's edition, plus some physical object as well... the originally proposed item was a model of the Normandy. Since we're getting a model by itself now, though, does anyone have any idea if such an edition will still happen?

Also... I could see it being a bit larger as well. I have a model of Serenity (well, technically it was created as a Christmas ornament, but, it came with a display stand in addition to a hanger, so...) and it's 6" long. I'd personally expect the Normandy to be at least a -little- bit bigger. Even if it were only, say, maybe an extra two inches or so... I think that'd probably be enough to make the scale a bit more reasonable, without it becoming too unweildly.

Kind of glad I got it where I did, actually...it's much more expensive here. Don't get me wrong, love the BW store, I've spent hundreds there! Lol.

Edit: @ Dan - The working assumption here is that this is the Normandy's new paint job for ME3, since Shepard has to turn her in to the Alliance when he/she gets back to Earth. The GI article states that the Alliance has been taking Normandy apart and upgrading her, so this makes sense.

I think it will make more sense in ME3 as to its color. I think the ME2 tag on the image probably should no be there but thats just speculation. At any rate rumor/spoiler sort of sugests ME3 might make the colors more acurate. Thats a topic for a different thread I think.

Things From Another World had ME3 in its product description. I don't think the BWstore has a section for 3 yet.

What is this going to be made out of? Hard plastic, metal, rubber?

Current pictures look rubbery. This could, of course, be a prototype in those pictures. Any way to find out for us? :)

Do we get charged as soon as we make the preorder or do we get charged when it ships like most other stores?

I had wondered that myself but I think its better that way because a few months from now I might forget to verify my account having enough to pay for it.

Sent off a request to Dark Horse, since no answer seems forthcoming here. Will post details once I get an answer from them.

I don't know, and I the only one who thinks this thing is actually kinda ugly? I mean, it's the Normandy! I do really want one, but it just don't feel right spending money on this. It'll be as if I'm getting it just for the sake of getting it, as if trying to prove my fan status to someone.

I personally don't like the rubber/latex look ( I HOPE that's just for the mockup) or the grooves cut into the hull. Those grooves would look far better as simply black lines on the hull, in my opinion. The cut up look the grooves create just diminishes the overall look and 'feel' of the ship.

If the final product is just going to be a cut up chunk of rubber like the prototype pics, I really can't see $35 for it, myself.

6 days and counting, with no response from Bioware/Treehouse.

Anyone looking into this? Jedi? Someone?

So....  11 days and counting, and no one will answer queries regarding what the production model will be like.

Even a "we're not sure yet" or a "looking into it" would be better than completely ignoring the question.

Customer service standards appear to be slipping somewhat.

The store is simply carrying the product and I'm sure no one at the store can answer any of those questions or have any knowledge or have any say in production with it just like the DC Direct figures. Its still early in prduction and is being released by Dark Horse i believe.

Just going to have to be patient until a final design is released.

Agree with Dan. @Val - I doubt even the production facility itself really knows the answers to your questions. The release is more than a half-year away, and they're still working out the prototype. If you've already payed for it without being satisfied by information, then you probably shouldn't have ordered it...but if you have (or even havn't) bought it yet, I would suggest (along with Dan) to be patient.

Personally, it would be nice if it was made out of a light (but relatively sturdy) metal - maybe aluminum, but I doubt it would be only $35 dollars then.  With the current pricetag, as long as it's not paper/cardboard, I'd be happy...as long as it handles the years well.  And the theme seems a bit odd - the SR-1 didn't have any over-the-top symbols...the SR-2 kinda did, but sporting Cerberus...but if this model is indeed the Alliance SR-2 (3?), then shouldn't the caption be sporting ME3?  And whats with the over-abundance of Alliance symbols...its like some cheap manly-apendage-waving contest between tIM and the Alliance brass...?!?!?

Meh...another pic:

At this point in the game, Dark Horse should have a good idea how they're going to handle this. They don't just whip up a batch of these things overnight. Half a year notwithstanding (and it's actually closer to less than, rather than more than), by now they should  already have this information. Even if they aren't producing it themselves, there are logistics issues such as packaging, raw materials, transit times, etc.. that have to be considered and coordinated with the production facility.

The preorder status won't last indefinitely, and there are those of us who would prefer to have some sort of information sooner rather than later. Considering the fiasco with DC, it is not wise to assume there will be a sufficient supply at release. Dark Horse not responding to queries in the last 2 weeks doesn't make them look good in this regard.

The main reason the question was posted here was that I thought perhaps someone from Bioware/Treehouse could get an answer, since DH does not appear to answer messages left on their 'contact us' page.

All that was required, as was pointed out earlier, was a simple acknowledgement if they didn't have the information. It should not have taken nearly 2 weeks for someone to answer the question. I think that was more than patient enough.
