^Huh? Do you agree with the poster before you, or the OP?

On to what I was going to post now...

Why make it optional?

It's an RPG.  Why remove underlying mechanics for people who obviously aren't fans of RPGs?  Should we remove ammo from all Shooters?  Should we make all Simulations have an Arcade Mode?  Should Football games remove plays? Should RTS's let you start every map with a fully built base and unlimited resources?

Why is it that RPGs should comprimise their mechanics for a group of people who don't like RPGs,  but the same suggestions made in any and every other genre would meet with endless laughter?

I don't see a need to make it optional.  If you don't like the type of game,  you don't like it,  there's no need to remove features so "Everyone can like it!".  I really seriously do not understand why this happens with RPGs.

I can see we're clearly on the same side here, but I gotta clear up a potential misunderstanding...
I was being very negative about the suggestions for getting rid of C/I as best I could... ultimately my opinion is not to remove it but to keep it, but if devs want to give in to this stuff a lot of people seem to be demanding (or a vocal minority, who knows) at all then the most they should do is make it an option...

I want to keep the system, but I'm not in control of the development and can't see the future. So I tried to stay open to possibilities.

Anyway, thanks for supporting charm/intimidate.

I don't see them adding it, but I really don't like the system they have in place now either.

I think a single negotiation stat that branches into a focus on charm or intimidate would be fine.
I just hope it's not based on paragon/renegade scores again, that would be sucky.
