I really hope you're right, but previous experience is against us. People were saying the same sort of things about having to work with Cerberus before ME2 came out.

Bear in mind the early ME2 info was that Shepard was dead. It was true, but no in the way we expected so give this a chance - it may go totally against what we expect.

Seriously, the Cerberus-fanclub mad in this thread is just delicious.

How could you not see this coming?!

Oh, and I'm with AdmiralCheez, I seriously hope TIM's reasoning is trying to get in with the Reapers and take them out from the inside. How that will work I don't know, but by GOD it would be magnificent.

We were expecting some player choice not some railoaded JRPG nonsense.

You had a choice, you made it, it didn't work out. Just like the rachni for paragons.

How exactly is the Rachni decision "backfiring" for Paragons? Just because there's Rachni husks? Everybody else is being made into husks.

To stop the Reapers from making a new Vanguard or using the Batarian Relay to attack Earth?

Seriously I highly doubt the Illusive Man to be stupid enough to be indoctrinated the entirety of ME2. Its likely he researched Saren's methods to avoid indoctrination and modified it so he would be safe. Now when hundreds or thousands of Reapers enter the Galaxy his defenses wouldl likely be nullified. One person who is strong willed can resist a Reaper indefinitely if they have defenses against it. But if the entirety of Reaper species come to the Galaxy  I doubt the Illusive would be able to resist indoctrination.

If that is true then maybe that will make sense but it still ask the question of what was the real point of Mass Effect 2

You guys don't think TIM could turn into Saren 2.0? Preserve the human race by joining the Reapers? Didn't he have contact with a Reaper artifact in that comic Evolution (yeah I know...comic was bad).
Wouldn't that influence his decision?

I'm just curious.

We were expecting an ally, but it seems we've simply made our enemy stronger by giving them one more species to huskify. Thats why it may've backfired against paragons.

Hey! Remember TIM's speech in one of ME2's endings?

JOKER: But Shepard is dead. What are we supposed to do?

TIMMY  : We move on. This was a victory. Humanity will perservere, we are nothing if not resilient.

[Cue ME3]

TIMMY   : I SURRENDER!

It wouldn't be surrendering as much as realizing there's nothing that can be done, so take an opportunistic approach and try to bargain with them to at least save humanity.

There was no player choice at the end of 2. There was only one choice and that was the paragon choice . so much for player choice when one choice controls how the story in 3 goes .

The thing is, they may not all be enemies, nor may they all be allies.
I think we'll still get Rachni allies, just not a huge amount of them. And the downside is still the fact that we'll have to deal with a seeminly harder husk variety.
So we get a minor ally in exchange for slightly harder combat.
Pro and con.
Also: I hate spiders.

Nice idea, and it explains it nicely.

Something I just thought of - what if Shepard and his crew have slowly been indoctrinated (by the IFF presence, by EDIs presence as she was partly made form Reaper tech, by being near a dead Reaper) and TIM is trying to kill them because Shep and Co. are actually aiding the Reapers without realising it. That'd be an interesting twist.

Timmy has become Saren 2.0 and the trilogy has gone a full circle. Called it months ago.

Well this is Walters, he can't write something decent if it flew around his face and bit his nose.

Probably right, but it'd be interesting if there was no pro to it at all. I want Shepard to have to suffer to win this war, and the first way to do that is to disocver prevous choices were actually wrong in the long run.

Another article that gets me excited about ME3...plenty of new gameplay info, and some nice little story hints. Nothing too revealing though. :)

Of course, have a go at the writing team based on a plot point we don't know the detail, context or reasoning behind yet. BSN in a nutshell.

It'd only be good if done right, but imagine finding out halfway through you've actually been dooming the galaxy and have to spend the second half fighting the Reapers while trying to undo yor mistakes. It'd be like the Dark Brotherhood in Oblvion.

"Garrus, Liara, Kaidan, Ashley and Tali (newly confirmed) are all full time squadmates"

If they only played a demo, how do they know any of these squaddies are full time? Or am I misunderstanding what is meant by demo and they played most of the game?

So if there are no new LIs in ME3, does this mean you get to further develop a existing relationship with your current LI?

This.
How many times was that mentioned in ME2? Like, at every single mission?
The Reapers were still a threat, but they were still considered a somewhat distant threat. The current threat was the Collectors.
It's only with Arrival that we see just how close the Reapers are.
