I played Origins/Awakening well over a year ago and returned to it now after playing DA:2 many many times over.  I had a couple of characters through the origin stories, but only one completed campaign.  So it's my second time actually playing through the game...

This time around I created a human mage that just loves to kill, and when not driven by that reason, she'll do whatever it takes to win.  And get some action *wink*.  Of course, she's romancing Zevran.  As much as I love Alistair, Zevran is so hilariously awesome to romance.  I can corrupt innocent elves and Zevran approves.  I can bed Isabela and he's excited about it.  And the options he approves of are often interesting or hilarious.  His reaction to Ruck was awesomesauce, his comments when talking to Dryden hilarious... just all in all super awesome.  And Morrigan isn't snarkling at me, that's so nice.

I had forgotten how much fun Origins was and how much you can miss out just doing one playthrough.  It's not like Zevran hated me last time... in fact I somehow managed to flirt with the elf (maybe even sleep with him!?!?!) before Alistair and Zevran was so super chill about being dumped.  Morrigan did bug the heck out of me, and I only got Oghren towards the end... there's so much variety to be had, not just in the major decisions but even in the small ones.

Zevran is the win, for a lot of reasons... at least I don't have to change my mind mid-game and change who the ruler is going to be because my boyfriend is going to dump me if he becomes king (oh Alistair, le sigh, now you get to be a grey warden biatch).  It's nice to get to see a whole different side of everyone this time around.  And the comments... oh the comments... Morrigan and Zevran on the bridge in Orzammar nearly had me pass out laughing.

Also shout-out to all the mod makers out there... played with a whole bunch of mods, including Dragon Age Redesigned, The Phoenix Armor, the Winter Forge (omg amazing!!! I don't have to look like a twit anymore for the stats), dialogue tweaks/ZDF/gatekisses... and on and on... they really add to the experience!!!  And they also keep mostly true to lore or give you options to keep it that way.  That toolset really gave DA:O a new sort of longevity.  And the people creating all the tools are amazing.  Oh, almost forgot... DA:O save game editor so saved my ass countless times both with Origins and DA:2.

Just wanted to share my excitement with fellow DA:O fans.  That's all.  Moving along.

Bioware games do tend to have well-written companions.

I really like Velanna.
reminds me so much of Viconia De'Vir - as an elf who hates humans (shemlen/rivven).

And Grey Delisle does great voice acting =)
