I'm in the latter group. SG-1 wasn't that good after season 7 or 8 I think (pretty much after Anderson left) and having Vala forced on the team only made it a million times worse. Not only is the character ridiculously childish and selfish it also makes no sense whatsoever that she and Daniel share an "attraction for each other".

Was Sha're anything like Vala? Was that destroyer-of-worlds-in-disguise-whatshername anything like Vala? Was that princess of the mining planet where Daniel was exposed to the use of sarcophagus over-and-over again anything like Vala?

No, none of them were. And suddenly he is attracted to a character who is everything but caring, selfless and sweet. To add more injury to insult, Ben Browder's talents weren't taken adventage of, at all. Claudia Black could've done a lot better too as anyone but Vala. There were some points in latter episodes that dealt with the Ori where Vala seemed at least close to a clear-headed somewhat normal person. But it didn't last. Sadly.

Would be nice to watch & post some examples but cba to skim through the 10000000000 Vala/Daniel ship music vids :pinched:

For me, Stargate jumped the shark when Daniel died and was replaced with Jonas Quinn and they started using the gate less and the Prometheus more. As for Vala, I like her and I felt she was one of the bright spots of the later seasons. I didn't really care for the shipping with Daniel, but I did feel that she lightened the mood and added some conflict. Another altruistic hero would have been boring, I'm glad they went with somebody with strong self-preservation instincts. Anyway, you either love or hate her and I respect others who have different personal tastes.

Consider this: A Human Elcor.

Again I apologize.

No apology necessary. Believe me, I will consider that.

People hate Vala? I didn't know that was possible. i thought she was the best part of the last couple seasons. Brought such humor and wit to what could've been a boring end to a great series. It totally helped ease the pain of loosing Jack.

"He's no good to me dead"

Coming from a star wars stand point, Boba fett will always be torn between the hardcore fans and the people who just saw the movies and stick with that being the ONLY cannon.  Regular folk will always look at him as the guy with the jetpack that lucas just killed off with no insight etc, but of course at the time you had Darth Vader. That was about as bad ass as characters got, there was noone else you looked at and went "daamn who's this guy, looks like some serious trouble". Not to mention Boba was one of the few characters who talked to Vader like just another familiar, and anyone who knew anything about Vader knew that was grounds for force choke....but ole fett never got that treatment.

We were left more wondering; who he was, what his role was, and why the hell was HE out of all the hunters the one who eventually got Han Solo. When he died, well that was that...or so we thought.  Boba is a prime example of fan power, they ALWAYS hold the most sway no matter what media we look at (ahem tali fans).  Some people look at Fett as some overhyped guy with guns all over, but others look at him as being amongst  the most iconic starwars characters. Its our nature as human beings to want to discover the unknown and sometimes we get well rewarded when we do. Besides, he breaks the mold by not being black or white (as far as sides go) and also being what you and i could consider a "normal" character who can fight jedi. Plus his role extended to Episode 2 with his FATHER being the origin of the clone troopers/storm troopers...definitely a sign unless old man Lucas had the entire Star Wars storyline thought out since A New Hope.

*edit* Bobas been my favorite childhood fiction character since i was a kid so yeah i get a little wall of text here n there when i talk bout him. Besides all the kids i knew growing up wanted to be him for halloween.

Yeah well it's been a long time since I watched seasons 9-10. Might feel a bit "softer" towards Vala if I watched them again now but the series was just so lame to begin with back then that it almost fealt like watching a spin-off. Altough I must admit, I'm still glad that Vala wasn't another Carter. Hate is actually such a strong word as I've said multiple times....maybe a more realistic expression would be that I disliked Vala. But it went for the series' direction in general so *shrug*

As for Jonas Quinn, I actually liked him but it might have something to do with the uhhh....physical appearance

Honestly all I can remember about seasons 9 and 10 is that it was more of less a bundled up mess most of the time with the Ori (LOL) and other freaky stuff. We recently watched seasons 1-7 with my fiancé and they fealt so more clear and relaxing. Guess I'm not all that in for a top-of-my-head sci-fi. And replacing characters.

I've noticed that viewers either love her character development, or despise her for supposedly becoming an obnoxious PC thug.

^ Agreed, but thats also because we have seen Cad Bane in action. Most of Fett's feats of awesome are in the books and lets be honest. Its much better to watch said actions then to read about em. That and Cad Bane is pretty damn awesome with his western look.

If I remember correctly: Stargate was supposed to end at the conclusion of Season 7. The producers were left almost in a state of disarray after it got renewed for an 8th season.

I personally was displeased with Jonas' character. I wished they had made him a more in depth character; but nevertheless I understand why he wasn 't;  for it now proves true that he was just a standin in for Daniel Jackson character. I maybe incorrect but I believe that at this time Mr. Shanks was discussing his contract with the shows' producers.

The only reason I'm "Gater" is the Science. Which is why I like Stargate over Star Wars or Star Trerk. The pure science entrances me.

You are correct. I don't remember excactly what the fuss was about but there was something going on. Jonas fealt like a Daniel copy but there were some moments when he had this interesting spark to him (probably some improvising on Corin Nemec's part?). He was sweet and caring like Daniel but he also had some gull. The scene with Nirrti made me chuckle.

Now that I watched this exact season not long ago, I actually kinda wish that Daniel had stayed dead

I should butcher you for that heresy. Nothing about Mr Blue man with the Huck Finn hat is cool. He sounds like one of those creepy ass voice boxes some people have (No offense to said people, but face it that Soundwave voice creeps the **** out of most people) Hell for even liking the clone wars is a punishment befitting death. Hmm given this I say, the whole of the "The Clone Wars" tv show is up for grabs given its pretty much turned the community on each other.

As to Film being better I have one Word for you.

Thrawn.

Pfft, the Star Wars fanbase already turned on itself long before TCW. Also, Admiral "Deus Ex Machina" Thrawn sucks.

teehee
