Bioware lies to us again: Mass Effect 3 isn't even out yet and Bioware has already failed to deliver on one of their promises.

From the Game Informer article:

"The organization's motives for trying to stop Shepard are a closely guarded secret at Bioware, and gamers won't know the truth until they play Mass Effect 3 themselves."

IM MORE INCLINED TO BLAME THE MAGAZINE AND AUTHOR THAN BIOWARE ON THIS.....assuming there is some "truthiness" AND the audacity to drop the news in such a matter-of-fact way. until further notice anyways.

It's far more plausable the writer just decided to infer that if Cerberus is working against Shepard than clearly they are working with the Reapers.

Oh, BTW, probably worth noting that isn't a direct quote from anyone at Bioware.  That's all Game Informer's prose.

Again, you fail to see that Bioware lied. Casey Hudson clearly stated that the Cerberus thingy is a closely guarded secret and we would have to play the game to find out why they are fighting us.

Bioware is in the wrong because they said one thing and did exactly the other.

Or so you've assumed, anyway.

From the Game Informer article:

"The organization's motives for trying to stop Shepard are a closely guarded secret at Bioware, and gamers won't know the truth until they play Mass Effect 3 themselves."

Way to miss the point: you've assumed PC Gamer got their facts straight.

Then why hasn't Chris P. or anyone from Bioware came out and officialy deny this information as false? Yes, Chris made a statement about the the author writing what he saw but yet he [Chris] hasn't denied anything either which should tell you something. Developers/Publishers do this all the time. Whenever some outlet lets out false information, they would always jump in and say that it is false and so on.

Example:

Recently some magazine posted information about certain races being playable for certain classes in Star Wars: The Old Republic. That information turned out to be false as Bioware Austin officially came out and stated that the author's information was false and misunderstood certain things.

Until Bioware actually comes out and calls this information false (which they haven't) then what the author wrote is actually what he saw and what he saw was Cerberus was......you know.....

While there is indeed an article in PC Gamer, keep in mind unless the article says "Casey Hudson said..." or similar, what they are writing is their take on the information they have seen (this applies to ALL media/magazines/websites, etc). Don't get too worked up on any one item until you hear it confirmed by BioWare someplace.

Hmmmm............

Note he says all media and mags . Is he saying we should not believe the Game Informer Mag article or the SR 2 model they have for sale on their store site . that has alliance colors and its logo on it as well

now you're being silly

No I am not if all the media and mag articles have it wrong about the game then that can be applied to their own store .

Well first off the new Normandy has been confirmed by bioware.
Second, they also confirmed the GI.

Ok

What I am getting at (And what everyone seems to ignore) is that Bioware said that the reason why Cerberus is after Shepard is a secret and will only be revealed when we play the game. Then they do a complete 180 and allow this magazine to post by Cerberus is after Shepard.

It's Bioware I mean come on here how many examples do you need of them saying one thing and then doing the exact opposite ?

I have lost count of the number of times I have seen Bioware say "we will/will not do blah de blah" then they go and do the exact opposite of what they just said they will or will not do.  I mean come on here, look at their history.

In other words if Bioware said "we will ensure we do not release plot lines of ME 3" then you can bet your life that within 3 months of them saying that we will know what Harbingers favourite biscuit is.

Anyway now you know what Bioware is like that means you can take action to prevent yourself from being spoiled by not reading previews of anything ME 3 related.  Take it from me by the time we actually get ME 3 we will know pretty much everything about the story, that is just the way they are.

It is plausable to view the info in the mag as legit. Since Bioware is not saying what part of the article is wrong .

Also in ME2, Ashley (not sure about kaiden) said that Cerberus could be working for the Reapers. Bioware could have just as said it as a joke.

It's all good. Just avoid information from now on. It's impossible to hype a game in a completely non-spoilerific way. Just stick your head in the ground if you want to go into ME3 with a virgin mind.

As disappoint as I am that Miranda hasn't been confirmed yet, it's threads like these that have me coming back for more. ExtremeOne is always a good source of laughter.

I don't know.  Neither do you. You suspect. You do have some grounds for suspicion, but you don't actually know (you think you do, but you don't).  Myself, I want some actual confirmation from another source before drawing a conclusion.  I'm funny that way.

Flat out denial is a spoiler in it's own right, all they have to say is don't take everything you hear as EXACTLY how it will be once you have the game in hand.

100% Correct!

I really think it is time for me to go and not look at anymore ME3 related content until I play the game. Bioware has a history of lying and when it comes to spoilers, it is like they just can't help themselves. They also said that we will find out in the game how to defeat the Reapers, that is also a supposendly "closely guarded secret" but I wonder how long it will be until that goes public?

With that being said, if I can't believe them when they say they will keep certain things secret, how am I supposed to believe them when they say ME3 will have better RPG elements and choices playing a larger role?

This really changes everything.

I use this signature, but I honestly have in mind it won't change much.

At the very least you warned me about the spoiler, thanks.

I don't mind it, true or not, because it's not about knowing the ending or major plot points, it's about the journey and whether it was an enjoyable experience.

Guys if you want to avoid being spoiled STOP READING THESE DAMN MAGAZINE ARTICLES.

You have NO ONE to blame but yourself if you're being spoiled. Don't watch trailers, don't read magazine articles or any of that crap.

"they just can't help themselves". Right, just like you couldn't help yourself to reading a thread with "ME3 Spoilers" in the title.

Grow up man, your sounding like a child. You chose read a thread with "Spoilers" in the title so don't start complainning that it spoiled some of ME3 for you.

Good, one less whiner.

Don't believe them and go away because evil spoilers lurk around every corner.

Bye!

So you say the have a history of lying, and you believe you've caught them in another one.  How exactly has everything changed then?  Isn't that sort of, well, not changing?

Same, I'm not to worked up about this spoiler. It doesn't tell me, how, who, what, when, why, because.. and really, answering those questions are the fun part Image IPB
