So I just bought the same game twice...
Can I just transfer the saves over and get the unlocks or Do I have to play the whole thing over again?

Also While I wait for the game to install do I need to re download Bring Down The Sky and the advertising DLC?

Arethe original games still installed, or did you just back up the saves and/or directory and want to install again?
BDtS isnt included with the Steam version, so if you didnt save the installation file fro the last time you downloaded it, you will have to do it again.

When you uninstall the disk version of ME2, you will be asked if you want to keep your save games. You will have to uninstall the disk version if you want to run teh game without putting the disk in, as registering the game on steam will not edit your windows registry entries to play it disk free.
With ME1 saves, you wont have any of the achievements unless you also backed up your profile.masseffectprofile file as well as your save files.

Interesting, leaving ME2 installed seems to have been a bad idea. My computer seems to have confused the two and tries to uninstall the steam version using either entry.

I went for it anyway and sure enough it broke my steam game. It was either 47 or 471 game files missing when I scanned it in steam and they are re-DLing now.
