Dark horses are Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (assuming it actually releases) and Batman: Arkham City.

L.A. Noire
I just checked out one of the trailers -looks interesting, but it doesn't seem to be available on Steam.
Is it not going to be released for PC?

Call of Duty: Black Ooooops will probably get GOTY from many sites and magazines anyway. Doesn't the advert on TV call it this year's best game already despite it being released last year?
To Hell with the magazines and sites. My GOTY won't be Skyrim or Witcher 2 but probably Dark Souls if it delivers.

I've been waiting for years for a PC port for this one, but it seems like it will never happen. The sequel will probably not be available for PC either, unfortunately I don't have any consoles.Elton John is dead wrote...
No Dark Souls in the OP? It's the successor to Demon's Souls which was GOTY in the year it was released. Dark Souls is also on the Xbox 360 unlike the former which was a PS3 exclusive.
completely agree, although i'm sure most people feel a little bit of pride if their favorite game wins some awards.Elton John is dead wrote...
Though why do you people care about what a magazine or site says is GOTY? GOTY is down to you and your opinion in the end.

Black Ooooops was released in 2010, so it won't be considered for 2011 GOTY awards.

Sadly no. THat is something I would really like to play.
Imo Witcher 2 if not GotY material at least RPG of the year.
Portal 2 might get it.
Totally forgot. If it comes out in time then maybe The Old Republic. The only game that has me more excited then Witcher 2 and Mass Effect 3. And omg the crafting ToR looks awesome!

Perhaps Skyrim or maybe Witcher 2. Bethesda might get more attention due to Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 3 so maybe more people would vote for Skyrim.

Most of those games don't have a chance and you forgot L.A. Noire.
I must admit I havent been paying much attention to that game but a lot of people seem to be kicking up a fuss about it, is there something I missed? From what I saw I assumed it was just a GTA clone set in the 40's with a more serious film noire style.
Nope. Look into it some more.
Is that a nope as in nope you diddnt miss anything and your assumption is correct or nope L.A. Noire wont be as you described?

Anyone whose been paying attention would know that its not just GTA set in the 40s. Its a dective story with emphasis on real life events of the time. Attention to detail and a much more serious style.
Or did you think RDR was just GTA with horses?

From a gameplay point of view yes it was, very much so. What I am asking is from a gameplay perspective what sets L.A Noire apart from GTA? Because apart from the fact that there were no cars (well at least not any controlable cars anyway) the controls and mission structure in RDR was almost an exact replica of what we saw in GTA4.

How is Portal 2 even considered? Its a 6 hour puzzle game with great humor but GOTY PFFFT I've already uninstalled it that doesn't scream Game of the Year to me.
Dispite its length Portal 2 was an exceptionally well crafted game, to understand why it is such a good game you really have to go past the surface and really explore the story and its characters as well as some of the darker and well realised themes present in the game.
Of course if it all went over your head I really cant expect you to understand however that is my reasoning why Portal 2 is so far one of the stronger competitors for GOTY this year.
