And? Your point being exactly ...what?

They say they want these games released on an annual basis and they want them to play more like shooters (where the dosh is).

Kane & Lynch and DA2 also bear the EA logo. Hugely successful games....not.

Point is, if you enjoyed ME1 and ME2, why are you worried about ME3? Casey Hudson is still the Lead Designer here. Those other games? Not designed by Casey Hudson. EA is the publisher, not the designer.

ME1 was NOT an EA game.

EA took over on ME2, when the BIG changes removing RPG elements started to happen.

If you misquote me and delete where I explain this...then we are unable to reason.

Already clarified several posts ago. Let it go.

Yes I am aware of that. I'm also aware that EA has very little to do with the DEVELOPMENT process.

EA has everything to do with the development process. They say "JUMP!" and BioWare says "Yes, sir! How high, sir!" EA decides which projects BioWare works on, how much funding those projects get and what the overall direction of those projects will be.

Don't you think they already learned from that mistake? Why would they create another pure shooter to compete with one they have already made?

Look, I hate looking like an EA supporter here (because I'm not), but they are not the source of every problem here either. It's always fun to blame the big-bad-evil corporation that only sees a profit margin but that doesn't mean they are fully responsible for everything.

I'm also tired of the "DA2 sucked so ME3 will follow the same routine" arguments. Different teams, different franchises. FWIW, I quit enjoye DA2 and the changes that were made to Origins so there you go.

Funny, I don't think DA2 sucked, nor do I hate it since it's my fourth fav Bioware game so congrats on putting words in my mouth. :wizard:<_<

In the grand scheme of things, yes. They set the goals. They do not make the game. Bioware does that. The "EA is EVIL" crowd would like to believe they are involved in every single step along the way because Bioware is good, EA is evil. Frankly, that mantra is getting old now and it's missing the finer points of the game devleopment process.

Just a little friendly forumite trolling to lighten the mood. I would have figured the last line would have given that away.

What if BW needs more time to make the same thing that Obsidian made with Fallout: New Vegas? I mean, adding a "hardcore" option in the game for those who wants a more rpg experience.
So with this option they take care of both type of players...
It's just an idea

NOW THAT'S AN ENTICING THOUGHT!

Mass Effect 3: Hardcore mode. That toilet in the Captain's quarters? Get used to it being your best friend.

Hardcore Hunger: You have to wait between missions if you use biotics because you need to have a nap and a meal. Make sure you get those extra daily recommended biotic calories!

Thought the hacking minigame in ME2 was bad? Wait until you try HARDCORE HACKING. You've never seen so many microscopic electronics in your life!

Hardcore mode forgoes the silly automatic system of gaining resources. Now you have to visit refineries to use your collected resources!

Ever wonder what using an omni-tool is like? In Hardcore mode, you get to find out! The codex comes built in with a 45-hour tutorial on programming, too!

Alien sex? PSHAW! Hardcore mode understands the silliness of inter-species relations! You can kiss Tali and Garrus goodbye, but in a hardcore, non-romantic way!

Whip your crew into shape, the hardcore way! A minigame unique to hardcore mode, you get to make sure all of the ship's hands are doing their jobs? Catch a slacker? Give him what for! A verbal coaching for you paragons, and what about renegades? A beat-down always teaches a serviceman how to handle that propulsion!

And how can we forget: Calibrations. If you think the crew can handle them all, you're wrong. Hardcore wrong. In hardcore mode, you can show Garrus how calibrations are really done.

Also, we made guns less accurate, shields useless and made sure tripping was a possibility. What kind of human runs along kilometers of uneven ground without losing their footing ONCE? Frustrated? Blame it on a bad agility roll!

Its... its...
PERFECT!!! :o

Yep. People who disagree, should really read this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Publisher

Say that to DA2 and ME2.

Well, I'm sorry if a technical difficulty may have kept you from playing DA2 to it's fullest (I had to restart due to the Isabela STD myself) or not having Auto-Attack.

Both of these games had story issues for a reason: ME2, and DA2's stories are like a bridge to a third story. Are you sure that EA caused that?... I'm surprised when anyone says that ME2's combat isn't fun, maybe they chose the wrong class for them?... The best thing about Bioware games, in my opinion, is the replayablity from the combat classes, and story choices, and lots of good characters.

People will see what they want to see. The fact that most of these people think that ME2 was a bad game when EVERY objective standard (critical reviews, player ratings, sales) disagrees with them says a lot in my opinion.

Exactly, thank you.

So they push this other Shooter (ME3) forward to the next fiscal year, where its needed. They already have Dice this year with BF3, no other shooters are required to shoot down (pun intended) CoD.

The delay makes perfect sense if...ME3 is now a Shooter.

And no I did not like DA2 btw. Apallingly mediocre game.

The hope I have on ME3 is that Casey is behind it. Phew!

And most critical reviews have also stated the main story was poor and there was not alot of RPG elements.

It also makes sense.. that they are adding more RPG elements and trying to make both their current fans and the wider audience all warm and fuzzy. It's too early to speculate about just how shooter or just how RPG this game will be. But we can make guesses, sure.

If your talking about the ones that gave the game perfect scores, there review is useless since no game is perfect and ME2 has so many flaws.

Also if the gameplay was so loved, why did Christina even crirtitse her work, hmm?

There was this PC RPG in the 90s -- Realms of Arkania: Star Trail -- that worked exactly like this.  Your characters had to eat, and in the beginning, you could never buy enough food to make long trips.  So you spent more of the game foraging for food than fighting or exploring.

Plus the way that eating worked was infuriating.  Having food in your inventory was not enough.  When your character got hungry, you had to open up the inventory and drag the food to the lips of your "paper doll".  You had to do this for each character in the party several times a day.

That game encapsulated everything that I hated about old RPGs.

Well it was also said from BW that DA2 will not lack RPG elements compared to DAO.
But still I'm quite optimistic that ME3 as its clearly not rushed and made by different people.

A guy at a share holder meeting says: We are tweaking the game to appeal to a wide audience.

Rpg Elitist hears: BWAHAHAHAHAH!!!! WE ARE SYSTEMATICALLY ANNIHILATING ALL RPG COMPONENTS!!!!

Casey Hudson says: We will be expanding on the rpg elements to find a balance between ME 1 and 2

Rpg elitist hears: THEY ARE GETTING RID OF RPG ELEMENTS!!!! THOSE BASTARDS!!!!!

Excuse me. What is EA making that competes with Call of Duty? Answer: 1.Battlefield 3, 2. Whatever the Ex-infinity ward people are making. 3. Gears of war...

Do you really think that they are changing the Genre mid-development?

Mass Effect has several competing games. Skyrim, The Witcher 2, and especially Deus Ex. THAT IS WHO they are competing with, and that is part of why they moved the date of release.

What's changed with ME2, and ME3,  taking something that Mass Effect 1 didn't do very well, and making it as good as the rest of the game. They are going to make more money, because they are going to appeal to two markets fully, not cutting OUT one market. More interesing and interactive story than Uncharted, with your own team of customized Badasses, and sevaral times more combat options. More fun minute to minute gameplay than Deus Ex...
