Did you shed any tears at the end of Dragon Age 2?

But what makes DA:2 so unique for me was that I felt an emotion I have NEVER felt in playing a game before - righteous rage. And the game did it to me twice : 1) the throne room with the Arishok, that moment with the Viscount on the stairs; and 2) experiencing what happened to the Chantry at the very end of the game.
I'm an not a person who uses foul language, but I turned the air completely blue for #2. I could not discuss what made me so mad with The Husband, as he had stepped away from the game for a few weeks for his own reasons, and I didn't want to spoil the game for him.
So I was angry, frustrated, and had no outlet except sex. Lots of sex. Made the Husband happy, and took the edge off a bit. I fully recommend this solution.

Me and my fiancee cursed because of the obvious sequel-hook ending. I have never cursed that much in my entire life.

The way it feels to me is I haven't completed DA2, the ending was left far to open with it's "insert coin" approach that it just felt empty to me. Obviously it is akin to ME2 leading up to the next title but DA2 done it (imho) in a far worse way. I had a sense of closure in ME2 (even though knew ME3 will follow up on the story) far more so than DA2. As such I can't really 'replay' DA2 because I never completed it in the first place since has no ending (personally) until either DA3 or DLC comes out to rectify this, it felt more like Witch Hunt than DAO or Awakening or even ME series. Some people like it but unfortuantly I cannot count myself as one of them. It felt like a slap in the face both the lack of choices and forced manner in which ended (your companion actions then dialogue choices after picking them reset back to previous choice list and forces you to pick one of the other two options, either of which has same result in game following those choices).

DA2 left me feeling somewhat underwhelmed on an emotional level. No tears at the end. It still feels this way after six playthroughs, no strong sense of emotional connection to any of the characters, including Hawke or the main story.
The 'All that remains' quest was moving but only for the first playthrough. The sense of helplessness that the writers were aiming for in that quest seemed to pervade the entire game because ultimately, we were utterly helpless to influence some of the the game's outcome(s).
On an emotional level, the game paled in comparison to DA:O for me, but from an entertainment aspect, DA2 was exciting and a lot of fun.
Honestly, I am under the belief that "helplessness" was the theme of the game.
Nothing wrong with helplessness as long as it's not just forced on you by the story ,but actually as a result of events. For example when XXX get's taken , there is nothing stopping you preventing it and then living with the consequences. But the game forces it on you.
I'm guessing it's all that remains, but seeing the volume of blood (despite the cartoony red) made it clear what was coming. But again the game gives you no alternative so it comes across as forced and for me that has the opposite effect.
It's quite different to FFX-2 where I absolutely "worked" my butt off to get the highest % completion for the best end.
I don't think the framed narrative helped in DA2 knowing how the game was going to end before it even started took away a lot potential drama of the ending.

I had about as much emotional attachment to anyone or anything in DA2 as I do to the 100's of insects I swat every year during the summertime.
That's...A bit extreme, Commander.

The ONLY game that reduced me to a sobbing mess was a game most people will never play because it's supposedly a Hentai game....
"Kana Little Sister"
I wept buckets. One line "I want to live...."

wow that's pretty weird dude. Also on a serious note the only game I ever cried to was Final Fantasy 7 Crisis Core. That games ending was very sad.
That's dudette for ya.
I know, right? But that game has reduced many people who did not expect it to tears. If you read the Gamefaq reviews....Damn, it's a tearjerker alright!

yeah It's very depressing that he got so close and then got taken out like that. Not to mention the overkill and the fact it was raining when he talked to cloud.

I apologize. Also which one was a tearjerker crisis core or "kana little sister"?
"Kana Little Sister". But Crisis Core is getting more interesting by the minute, heh!

Zack was far more awesome than that annoying emo Cloud. Why did Zack have to die?

Hey, I still like cloud! I liked the Final Fantasy 7: Advant Children movie too. And Areith getting killed was more sad than anything in DA2, imho *ducks the tossed items*
Now, Vincent was an awesome dude. Cid was one of the best.

If it's a Hentai game it's kinda failed, tear'jerking isn't the type of jerking Hentai is supposed to be about surely.

Exactly my thoughts. Personally I thought FF7 is overrated and wasn't that great, but crisis core was amazing. Shame they had to kill zack just because of whiny cloud

There are some great stories in those games. "Kana Little Sister" is one of them. "Crescendo" is another.

I got kinda teary-eyed when meeting Ruck in the Deep Roads. He was taintd by the Blight, and his mother hasn't seen him for such a long time. I just wanted to return Ruck to his mother, where he'd be safe and sound. If only my Warden had gone there much earlier...

This too. I hate the DR but that moment was very poignant. And Ruck telling my Warden that he can see the darkness in her gave me shivers.
