I just hope there's an option to give them the finger after they wrote you off on Horizon.
I just hope there's an option for you to give them the finger so they can die in a crucial mission which will cause you to lose the war

I still don't get it why people call it cheating 'cause it's not... in order to cheat someone you actually have to be involved, together, and Kaidan/Ashley and Shepard are not together at that point of the story. Also, we could say that those two already cheated Shepard by not believing her/him... think tis more appropriate to say - if Shepard kept loving them, but cheating, just no. We don't know if Shepard actually fell in love with Garrus or Thane or Tali, Miranda... so if Shepard stays with them, then it's even less valid to call that act cheating.
I could see it as cheating on Liara even before LoSB if you do the right conversation tree to find out what she did for you. Outside of that I basically agree.

You were meat and tubes for 2 years.. ash/kaiden are alliance soldiers and have moved on to bigger things, ;i hope they aren't turned in to drama queens over this as many people want to see some kind of overreaction from them? I also hope they did some growing up or had some significant change.Thoughts?
I don't hope so...

The VS send this PM. So she/he thought there is still a romance at least there's hope you will reunite in future.
In PC Gamer there is a vague suggestion, but i won't spoil....
When you look at the confirmed Squadmembers it's not clear when the two LI met. Perhaps you have to make a choice and the one you reject loose loyalty? Leaves the Squad? No that's too much, or? I hope there is no "catfight", but Ash could get a little furios... Cheatet once one her, because i want to see her reaction. I know, shame on me...

I really don't understand why people rage so hard about Ash/Kaidan. Their reactions seem rather believable to me, it's almost like people just can't tolerate a few seconds of Shepherd not being space Jesus.

@AngelicMachinery: that's also my prefferd explanation... Perhaps the game should be rated 18+ and this should be controlled.
By the way, that's offtopic.

Agreed, to "cheat" on someone wouldn't you have to be in a relationship with them to being with? If they are trying to say that what we got in ME2 with the VS/Liara was a relationship that is about he loosest defintion of the term I have ever seen, seeing as how they are more or less non-existant.

There is no take backsies when you dump some one.
"I don't trust you, I don't want to see you anymore"
Email a day later "sorry, i didn't mean that"
Good for you, because I moved on.
That isn't cheating. They might be upset that it is over, but you did not cheat.

Some people just like Ash/Kaidan better than the new LIs.

I guess I'm just saying, I think the heat comes from the other direction.
Maybe not from everybody though . . . I mean I still think a couple characters aren't going to make it between games. Most likely Thane being one of them (due to all the dying and all). So if you dated Thane . . . no guilt trip! Yay!

So there should be an option to tell the VS 'that'. There was a little more text in that EMail. And i said the VS thought... But i admit it's a question of interpration.

But it's important to remember that ME3 will have sacrifices on a much greater scale than the first two, and there will probably be more casualties on-screen. Emotions are going to be strong, and someone might end up taking it out on someone else. Unless Shepard explains things to the love interests at the beginning, tensions may rise between the two, simply because they're easy targets. And as we learned from loyalty missions in ME2, you can't afford distractions.
Essentially while I do hope there's possible fallout from picking a new LI, I would hope it doesn't stem from picking a new LI in the first place. Shepard's poor job at justifying it, plus added stress from the mission would be to blame. I foresee a paragon/renegade check at some point.

BWAHAHAHAHA!
I'm sorry. I've seen WAY too many immature relationships go on between idiots to know that yes "backsies" DO happen all the time in relationships.
I had two ROOMMATES (so you know this was fun) who dated, broke up, slept with other people, got back to gether and then each accused the other of cheating!
Were they cheating? "Technically" no. But did it matter? No it did not! They broke up again!
And now they're married sooooooo . . . . yeah love don't make no sense.
You seem a noble person sir, if naive. There are no "rules" to romance.

Sure I paraphrased things a bit. I see it as a flaw in the really dumb email thing they set up in ME2. You don't have any responses to any of them. Why didn't they branch into a conversation tree system for resposnes to these emails. Send a renegade, paragon, or neutral response.
Toombs sends you an email, you send one back.
Don't worry I'm on your side.
You don't know the details
Bring it punk.
Just getting an email with no ability to repsond leaves everything up to interpretation and in a bad way. If I see something in one way, but the designers see it differently when those views conflict I just roll my eyes at the stupid, I don't think cool.
