In fact I'm gonna go so far as to say that as long as ME1 is still exists, it's not the weakest BioWare game I've played.

I hesitantly agree.  At least the combat in DA2 is more enjoyable than the vapid lift + shoot of ME1, wave mechanics aside.  I have notable issues with both games, but I think I'd rather replay DA2 than face the MAKO again.

I do enjoy the game too, but this game is not like a product from BioWare, if some small studios made this, I will be surprised. since this game is from BioWare, I have to literally call it crap

Okay, this is not a thread for using the same old arguments or throwing poo at one another or the game. Please, can we keep this as at least on e positive thread for people who did like it? To say why they liked it? Pretty please?

Ditto, this feels more like someone trying to make their first game rather then a genre leader.

Yep. Nothing to be ashamed if you say "I love DA2" instead of "I love DA:O" or Mass Effect 1 & 2. If it can make you love it because of any reason, so it's worth to praise it. Why hesitate?

If DA2 is really that bad, why people still play and condemn it like abomination of the world of game? And still stay here to say some bad word? Accept it! You say you hate it but you really one to see it one more time, to have a deeply feeling about the game of its own, not some kind of "successor of some awesome ancestor" or something like it.

For me, I vote 1 thumb up for DA2, I really don't care how much other hate it and insult me while i'm saying this, because there are still many other that have the same idea like me. So let's play DA2 one more time!!!

Why would people still play a game they don't like? The people who dislike DA2, are only still on the forums, because they expect more from Bioware, and want better in the future... Yes, it's a good game, but is it good for Bioware's standards?

@MorrigansLove: No idea, there must be some reason for DA2 to be not so satisfaction as people desire. Actually there is no clear "Bioware's standard". This standard depends on the general opinions of the gamers about some genre of games, that's what I thought

I have played many Biowares games, like many others here. I haven't found "any" Biowares games, where I would not have some kind of issues with the game. How ever, I have allways liked to play all Biowares games in the end, they where really worth of playing. I consider any game what keeps my interest so long that I'm able to finish the game, as good game.

Yes, i like DA 2 as well, it have it's faults. I prefer the DA 2 story over DA Os story, i also prefer the companions, and the companion banter, plus i prefer the setting more, though it would be nice to see more of the free marches.

Overall it is a good game, and i intend to do at least a couple more playthroughs.

I'll play ...

OK, here's one specific thing I liked, and an area where I thought the game was better than the original: the friendship/rivalry system. It needs refinement here and there, but overall I thought it worked very well. Now you can build a meaningful relationship with a companion while still disagreeing with them, and how they feel about you is based on your actions rather than how many dog bone you've given them.

I also enjoyed the game which was prety much what they announced it would be and what you should have expected based on the announcements. Was I disappointed it was not a conituation of the Warden's story, yes, but there is absolutely no reason that should prevent me from enjoying the game. As to relative cost, I have over 250 hours of game time into DA2 which means it so far has cost me about$0.24 per minute. This compares to a movie that costs $2.50 to $3.00 per minute so it is less than a tenth the cost of a movie and I will likely play quite a bit more driving it down even farther.

Well, I'll admit it. I too like the game. I would have liked even more if they have had more time to develop it, design different areas differently, had a little more of DAO Art style to it, etc., but it is still a highly addictive game. So is Diablo 2!

Ok. I've posted this before but I guess I'll say it here as well.

The wasn't bad. It was rather....passable for me.
It did for the most part entertain me.

For a while I got to kick back and enjoy casting spells and listen to the snarky remarks my character said but watching my character raise her eyebrow was hilarious. At on point in an attempt to make the Templars notice my mage using magic, I ended up trying to do things to make the citzens notice me by walking around with no clothes and watch the others look at me and sometimes they would say something that could apply to my character that ended up being funny.

When I used to play ES:Morrowind, I used to do stuff like that and listen to them get mad and yell at me to put on some clothes and voice their opinion of my shame openly, while others just ogled me.
I love little interactions like that. Miss them, quite frankly. I spent many hours trying to do stuff like that in that game.
*flashbacks to those days*

Since I pretty much love to kill time in fantasy land, I was just happy to slip into Thedas once more. DA2 wasn't a GREAT game, but it wasn't a bad game either. ^_^
It did allow me to meet some cool characters that I truly hope to see again....but not too soon.  *glares at EA*

So with all it's flaws and annoyances, I still liked the game nonetheless.
:)

Since I'm a fan of casual RPGs I liked this game more than Origins. Still, I understand the fans' frustration that they got this instead of another traditional RPG. BioWare already has a casual RPG series, namely Mass Effect, so it would have been better to make this a hardcore game. Not from a commercial point of view, of course.

I've played the entire series of Ultima, of Might & Magic, of Baldur's Gate, of Icewind Dale, of Fallout, of NWN, of Knights of the Old Republic, of Mass Effect, of Dragon Age.  I've played classics like PlaneScape: Torment and disasters like The Temple of Elemental Evil.

DA2 is better than most all of the others, excluding DA:O and certain stunning installments of the others.  Even then, note that we're recalling a fully patched-and-expanded DA:O and unwittingly comparing it with a just-released DA2 that only has a few item pack expansions.

In spite of our rpg-enthusiast mantra of story over graphics and sound and music, we really really do like our graphics and sound and music.  In fact, I tried to replay PS:T recently, and did so for about 3-4 hours, but I quickly tired of the old-style graphics, several buggy glitches even in the patched version (people moonwalking - walking backwards) all over the place, and the clunky UI. I might try it again after applying some player mods that fix most of the bugs, but I'll need to make myself do it: it's hard giving up smooth UI and 3D graphics for animated sprites and text.

Further, I recall not liking DA:O that much, initially.  I kept on dying.  I couldn't figure out the UI.  I didn't understand tactics.  I didn't understand where/how to find enough healing/defense. Oh, and it was initially fairly buggy, too.  Then as I learned the sophisticated ins-and-outs of the game, and bugs got fixed, I started liking it (and replaying it) more and more.

I've replayed DA2 several times now, and have several characters in the pipeline.  My main gripe about DA2 is that I wish it were longer, bigger, had more to it.  Think about that:  all those gripes about reusing maps for cave and city settings, all the gripes about not really furthering certain DA:O plotlines ... they aren't gripes that we dislike DA2, per se, but that we like DA2 and want more of it.

So, yeah, I like the game.  As I learn the tactics system and the new mechanics, I like it even more, because I then pass the initial frustration phase (like I had with DA:O) and really start to appreciate and delve into its intricacies.  I look forward to more bug fixes and expansions.

I found the backlash against this game here somewhat surprising. The general consensus among my friends was that it was a good game and better than DAO.

I agree.

I like the game. Its decent. Certainly not a bad game.

And nowhere near the worst game I have ever played, that dubious honour goes to Spore (really wish I hadnt bought that).

I acknowledge that this game has some major flaws that can really really grate on you, and I do admit I sometimes find myself thinking "I hate this game" because of these flaws. When that happens I simply remind myself that it could be worse, it could be a Bethesda game (Fallout 3 had the worst MQ storyline and dialogue of any game since "All Your Base Are Belong To Us!").

Remembering that helps me to look at the game fairly instead of in terms of "this is a bioware game! i shouldnt just like it! i should LOVE IT!"

Thats the problem with most of the community I think.

They are that used to instantly loving Bioware games from day one release, that when the get a game they dont immediately fall in love with they automatically go off on a fanboy rage and decide since they dont love it they MUST HATE IT!!11!!!1!11

I don't know about you, but the comparison to Godfather movies is actually quite interesting, as in fact, the 2nd one goes very, very, very far away from the first. I happen to prefer the 1st one, myself. While with the Dragon Age things, I happen to prefer the 2nd one.

Especially from a game point of view, arguably the story is more movie-like in the 1st one, but hey, everyone who likes popcorn fantasy can still play Dragon Age: Origins. That's okay, I think.
