As a sequal (of sorts) it lagged way way behind Origins....as a new IP (remove the DA referances) it might have been great...or calling it DA: A Champions Rise to Power might also have worked.

This. Or just using the original name, Dragon Age: Exodus

This. That name would have worked brilliantly. Much better than slapping a bland "2" at the end of DA. A Warden sequel can be called DAII. An all new story......that's risky/flawed marketing right there.

Anyways I loved the game personally, tho there are some glaring flaws and somethings that need to be changed/fixed in DA3 if it's made.

Especially if it's gonna have a dev cycle of only 18 months. Now THAT'S a risky move.

I like the game too, that’s why I’m upset it’s only half the size of Origins!
Don't you mean only 30% of Origins(and yes, I do realize i'm pulling that number out of my ass).

In what terms play time? Based on my play throughs its 3/4 the size which is not bad considering the extra cost of VO.

I can't stay around... because if I do people will start to figure out that actually everyone posting in this thread is the same person with multiple accounts. There is in fact only ONE person in the whole world who likes DA2. We just happen to be Geth. And uh oh I've said too much, Hawke-Deliveryman. *shuts down*
Fix'd.
Well, as far as marketing strategies go, I'm not sure a spin-off franchise called Dragon Age: The Courier Chronicles would have generated as much hype (although at least they'd not be able to blame negative feedback on high expectations).
I'm not sure what the "here's your junk" quests were all about either. Perhaps they wanted to implement a quick, convenient way to add a means for Hawke to generate a bit of extra income. If that was the case, then a mini-game might have been a better option IMO. Maybe gambling with Varric in the Hanged Man or something.

I played Dragon Age: Awakenings all the way through on one playthrough, and I had to force myself to do it, just so that I would have a canon-Warden-saved-file to download for Dragon Age 2. (Seriously, Bioware-- Alistair's wife KNEELS when they meet after a few months apart? What were the writers thinking?! /facepalm)
I tried the DA 2 preview, and my heart sank. The fighting animations were pretty, but it moved too fast to take it all in. I'm not a twitch player - my hand-eye coordination is poor. I figured that I would probably not be able to play the game when it eventually came out.
I ended up enjoying DA 2. A good part of that enjoyment came from the voice acting - it bothered me in DA:O that the Warden would stare vacantly off screen during camp dialogues. But once again, only two play throughs (one pro-Mage, one pro-Templar).
Overall, I guess that means that I pretty much liked DA:O and DA 2 equally. Sacrilege, I know. But it's like choosing between ice cream flavors - sometimes you want Buttercrunch and sometimes you want Gingersnap. And you never want Black Licorice (DA:A).

Dragon Age 2 exceeded my expectations for the game by far. With such a short turnaround could Bioware manage to produce a quality game? The answer is yes, absolutely. The only thing we lost due to the short turnaround time was the recycling of dungeons/etc, and I can't say that really worried me at all.
A much more fun, fast paced game with more to involve you. A wonderful cast of characters whom evolved over the years in the game. I can't say that I wasn't absolutely delighted when my companions whom disliked each other immensely at the start of the game grew to become friends and started to look out for each other. DA2 was simply the best game I have played for characterisation, bar none.
The combat was much better than the snooze fest DA:O was. It may have been streamlined, but at least it wasn't boring, and nothing could convince me otherwise.
I love it, I adore it, and I want more like it. Thanks.

If you remember the exchange between Varric and Anders about Black Marsh. It really does not matter what the first world is the marsh would cancel it out. The same with the Dragon Age name. It would draw instant comparison to DAO.
