Normandy crew in Star Trek uniforms... an easter egg I've always felt beating on insanity should achieve.
Option to call-up crew/squadmates to Shep's room for conversations rather than running all around the Normandy.
Spacer background.........introducing Shep's LI to his mother.

Yeah, seriously. Shepard buying his own equipment is just stupid, given the situation presented in both games. I don't mind traditional RPG gameplay except when it makes the actual role-playing worse. But this is one of those times.
Relax. I'm not going to get my way on this one anyway.

Jacob as a fully realized squad member is something unlikely I'd like to see in ME3. I think Miranda will be back in full force, though. She's got some popularity on her side, not to mention an auspicious set of almost impenetrable plot armor.

Cigars. Sometimes, I just want Shep to have one, especially after a good fight.
Krogan schoolgirls.

Mature, tasteful sex scenes with your LI similar to ME1
This! I would rather have NO sex scenes than something like the akward Dragon Age Origins ones... Some of the ME2 were good, but some were less so
Hey, ya know if you had the PC version of DA:O they had mods to fix those awkward scenes.
As an honest what I want to see in ME3 is really the return of ME1 style romance scenes. It's rated M for a reason, we don't need Fable Fadeouts, you're technically supposed to be 17+ to play ME, I don't see why not.

"We've watched you pass out on the floor of the Dark Star four times in a row, Commander. Enough is enough."
On a serious note, I want to see Lorik Qu'in again. With so many other recurring characters, this is doubtful.

I have a few things that I'm constantly thinking about that would just be so awesome in a backstory setting. But I've also thought a lot about some main-game involving tidbits as well. I'd like to share those with you and hope that this won't be a flame thread, but one where you could flesh out ideas and discuss them with your fellow forum goers. Anyway, try to keep the idea summarized in at most 3-5 sentences for the TL;DR crowd. I'll go
-I've always been interested in what the different species native tongue sounded like, so I made a thread awhile back detailing my thoughts. Basically, I thought it'd be awesome if during a mission, the Reapers activate something that screws with everyone's translators and your stuck trying to coordinate a team without being able to understand them.
-I'm constantly thinking about what the other species think about humanity's culture. We know that Samara liked the Samurai's and that Asari apparently like Eqyptian sculpture's (Kasumi DLC). But I've wondered, what do they think of our music? Since most only have 2 fingers and a thumb, would they find guitars weird?
I'll try to update this often with ideas, but I won't promise anything. Lol
Your premise re: the language barriers; I think that could be writtwn into an interseting side quest. You know, Shepherd is tasked to find and ancient scholar (any race) who can translate all the languages. Bring him or her back to the Citadel to develope a new translation tool...just a thought!..OR a re-telling of the Tower of Babel story somehow applicable to Protheans.....~shrugs~
