personally endorsing every shop in the zakara ward with "im commander shepard and this is my favorite shop on the citadel!" should net shepard in trouble with all the shop owners on the citadel in ME3.

maybe the citadel store-owners union will protest against shepard. or a news report about shepard being a sell-out or something.

big or minor i really hope its mentioned.

*trying to convince the taurians to help fight the reapers*
"why should we believe you shepard when you personally endorsed every shop you visited with a "this is the best store" ad? we see how little truth your words have now."

I only endorsed 3

a weapon store, a tech store and Biotech store

they are , in that regard, my favorite store of that particular category

what, I can't have a favorite gun-satore and a favorite tech store at the same time?

Well if the PC Gamer mag is on the money then it looks like the Paragon options were all the right ones. Can't say I'll be surprised. Though hopefully even being "wrong" will give the Renegade access to some sweet exclusive content.

perhaps if you endorsed any stores in ME2 than the stores available in ME3 will be their competitors so they'll have higher prices.

i dunno, i think it'd be a funny thing to have a little consquence. maybe just a newsreport calling you a sell-out or something lol

I tell you what, I'll make you a deal, I'll happilly agree to that for my Paragon characters if you are willing to except an equal penalty on your Renegade ones.  After all Renegades pretty much strong arm and bully their way into discounts for those same stores.

Both Renegade and Paragon choices should have unintended consequences. That is quite fair.

I thought the renegade options made much more sense, and I liked how the shopkeeps went along with it.

I'm not worried about it, it's such a small thing in the game, tbh. And I think renegade responses should have better outcomes. 'Looking for sponsors' versus 'I'm Commander Shepard and I'm broke as ****, so here's my endorsement'? I'd rather go renegade.

Indeed, I have characters that run the gamut from Full Paragon to Paragade to Neutral to Renegon to Full Renegade and a few variations in between so I'd experience the lot either way.  I've just never understood this whole 'lets punish Paragons' thing, there's absolutely nothing stopping anyone from playing as a Paragon themselves so why?

I fully expect the Geth re-write to bite Paragon's on the behind royally in ME:3 for one thing.

Same as killing the Racnai on my Renegade type classes will probably mean less support against the Reapers.

It stems from some Renegade choices being utterly pointless from a metagaming POV like why sacrifice the council if you can save them and destroy Sovereign with minimal losses? Or why hand over Veetor to Cerberus when you get the information regardless and get no benefit from doing that?

Personally I don't think any choice should be "punished". I'm in favor of a "pick your poison" type risk/reward system.

I came here expecting ****ing and moaning about Cerberus, the Rachni, the Krogan, or whatever. I must say, I am pleasantly surprised, and yes, I completely agree with you.

For anyone who endorsed more than one shop, all items will cost 75% more credits in ME3.

The benefit is that the player gets to behave like a jerkass, because that's apparently fun.

Paragon choice, why save 5% of the Geth that already worship and serve the Reapers when you can just kill them and not lose anything?

Paragon choice, why bother talking to C-Sec about letting those two Asari travel when you can just illegally give them a false ID and get the same result?

Honestly bud, we could go through them and I'd bet they'd balance fairly well. (I have no intention of doing that mind, before you ask. lol)

ah hell yeah. im all for hilarious minor consquences.

i paragon discount most of the time anyways, i just think it'd be really funny and awesome if there was at least some reference to shepard being a sell out or something. i just couldnt think of a funny consquence for the renegade version (which ive only actually done to the fish store now that i think of it lol)

You know, I have heard people grousing about renegade decisions and the potential unpleasant consequences of that playing style. It's as if they want to play their character like an arrogant jerk, but also want to be loved an appreciated and get special rewards for doing so. In the real world, you cannot be an arrogant ass and then expect everybody to love you. In RL, people generally hate those guys. So why should everybody kiss your backside for being a jerk in the ME universe?

Personally, I don't care how you play. You bought the game and you should have fun with it, you paid your hard earned coin for it just as I did. But don't try to throw a monkey wrench in my game because you realized that being a jerk may get you some trouble that a paragon won't have to deal with. You made your choices and I made mine and let the cards fall where they may.

By trying to sabotage my game playing experience because you intentionally fouled up your own, doesn't win you any friends in the real world. Will BioWare lend you an ear and then hammer the paragons because the renegades cried about being treated unfairly? I hope not, because that would be unfair. The players who played renegade did so because they like being the bad ass. But to turn around and complain bitterly that the paragons won't suffer as they potentially will, is wrong.

Just my .02 on the matter.

Renegade is not about being a "jerk", it's about not letting personal feelings getting in the way of duty and being professional.

And if someone doesn't want to cooperate with Shepard on the count of him hurting their poor whittle feelings then they deserve to get turned into Reaper stew.

His argument is so off base, and misses the point so severely, that I'm not even sure how to respond it. I've heard it many times before.

The problem is that Renegade and Paragon are not really well-defined. Renegade, for example, can be a get results no matter what kind of person, or a petty dick.

The issue here isn't the Renegade personality. It is all the decisions. Why do all the Renegade choices turn out badly and the Paragon ones perfectly?

I don't care too much how anyone percieves my renegade, but every now and then I'd like to see his practica, cautious approach, prove to be beneficial. One way to do this is to have a Paragon Shepard occasionally suffer for their trusting nature.

How do you know that all the Paragon choices comes without consequences? Any Paragon choice where you're helping a faction can might as well bit you back hard in ME3 if that faction turns against you. And considering that there were plenty of factions to help in ME2, I think at least one of them is going to backfire somehow.

They won't though, Paragon is all about being the perfect hero. They aren't going to get stung by a single choice, it's just the way it works.

The reaperized rachni in the gameinformer magazine would like a word.

...because I've played the ****ing game.

Sure, ME3 might turn this on its head, but I don't have very high expectations. If it does I'll be happy and I won't argue about this anymore.

That's why I only endorsed one shop (Saronis Apps, because the salesman was a big fanboy. Flattery will get you everywhere).

LOL.

Which Renegade choices have turned out badly so far?
