Everytime I try to play, the game shuts off within minutes of starting. We just bought the ultimate editon (cd pk) and every other forum I have searched has said that it is probably a psu problem (although we just installed a new 480w psu). I have tried everything as far as upgrading all of my hardware and checking my system, but no matter what I do, the game just shuts off :/ Please help!

Might need a little more info on hardware than that, but first... what version of Windows do you have. And can you give us a little more information beyond "game shuts off"... does it freeze on screen, does it crash to the desktop (CTD), does your computer reboot or shut down on its own?

i have windows xp. i am thinking it is a driver problem b/c my monitor says no signal and i can still hear the game, then after a black screen it goes back to my desktop with all of my icons out of resolution.

The HD 4550 is a low end graphics device that will strain and struggle with a game such as this one, and get hugely overheated, after which it will shut off before it fries into a puddle. Get a thermal monitor utility, such as SpeedFan, and find out how hot it gets before it shuts down.

i've played in windows view while watching the temp on the card and it stayed pretty low even as it started to glitch. i checked the requirements on the box before playing, so i just assumed that the 4550 would work, i can't really afford anything much less low end than that :/ and i am not the most computer literate person in the world (if you could not already tell) so any pointers to a better card would be appreciated

The Radeon HD 5570 is last year's budget Radeon for gaming, and here is one of those at Newegg for $50, after the rebate:

Last year's HD 5670 offers one of the very best values in terms of performance per dollar. Here is one of those at Newegg for $60 after the rebate:

nVIDIA's offering in that price range are generally very poor values when compared to the Radeons.
For instance, here is a Geforce GT 440, which is somewhat newer and faster than the HD 5670, but not $40 worth of "better" at $100:

Before buying a new card, I suggest doing a full uninstall and reinstall of your video drivers in safe mode.

well, i uninstalled and reinstalled my drivers as well as updated some other stuff i thought might help... still nothing. i guess it must be the quality of the card, then.
