Did you install the game an how did you do it?? What type of rig you running?? We can't give any advice until we know what you are sporting on the machine end. If the machine is perfectly fine, then install/corruption problem or some such issue with DLC or saves might have occurred. But the best way to get help is to give us all the info you can about your rig so we can eliminate the stupid stuff first.

I have the game over Steam, with the typical Cerberus Network DLCs installed (I think).

I had them installed, but then I reinstalled the game. I don't know if they stayed installed when I uninstalled ME2 to reinstall or not.

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
RAM: 4 GB
Video: Radeon HD 5870
Windows 7 64 bit

Like I said my computer can run it fine.

Are you loading a save started on another machine??
If so, then make sure you have dl'd and installed all the Dlcs you had previously.
It is also possible you had a problem on installation so a uninstall and reinstall may be in order to see if this is it. Before you do that you may also want to see if a new character has the same issue, so we can find out if it may be a problem with the transferred character files or an ingame issue. So start a new game and play for a bit and see if you have the same issue, if you haven't that is.

I just uninstalled ME2 again, deleted all DLC and config files, and now I'm going to reinstall and try a brand new character. The one I tried previously was a transfer from ME1 that I just started playing. All on the same machine. I'll not install the DLCs until I know if it's working or not.

I'm gonna take a wild stab in the dark and guess that you have either an ASUS motherboard, or video card. Uninstall ASUS SmartDoctor and GamerOSD. They are known to cause this crash.

I have GamerOSD installed. I'll try that. Never used it anyway.
