Since EA wouldn't have to pay a big share to Lucasarts, the MMO could be more profitable for the company than The Old Republic, analyst says.

An MMO is 100-200 million dollars before you see a dime of revenue.

They first have to get the Star Wars The Old Republic mmo out first and then they can look into it
this, not even Activision would ask for 2 MMO's from Blizzard at the same time

The Old Republic just took to long.
It looks dated before its out of the gate.
Plus, Star Wars just isn't loved as it used to be.
Mass Effect is the young up and comer at the moment.
If Bioware had a magic Genie which would allow them to erase all the work, costs and debts amassed by The Old Republic and allow them to retry it as a Mass Effect MMO, I have a feeling they would.

And I really hate the idea of pay to play because I never seem to be committed to the games. So it's like I play it for about 4 months and then I'm done.

ME numbers are still nowhere near the size of Star Wars fandom. Plus the dated look is because you cannot support Crysis-level graphics in a MMO; your server cannot handle it, and a large part of your customer base does not have computers that can handle it. So you go for a "stylized" solution.
I happen to know that if they had a genie, they would never have licensed the Hero Engine. That piece of garbage has been responsible for a lot of their setback.

EA will do it just to compete with Activision.
Many have tried, all have failed.

Funny you would say that cause Blizzard is actually making another MMO

Something I strongly wish they wouldn't do but I believe the target release date is 2014 or so, after the final WoW expansion has been released.

Aren't MMO's to the videogame industry like restaurants are to the small-business world (i.e. the ones most likely to fail in their sector)?
