Why go back for a trial?

I dunno, some nonesense about working with a "terrorist" group, nuking an entire system, killing 300,000+ people, possibly igniting a war between two species.

Naw, they should totally allow Shepard to run around as he pleases at this point.

Who could stop him?

Any kind of law enforcement the second the ship touches a docking bay on any civilized world.

Jailbreak by Shepard?

Actually, I thought of something worse.

What if Joker was an Alliance spy all along?

I still think he is a Cerberus spy, actually....

Couldn't the SB help him with that? not seeing any reason why he should go back until the Reapers start Reaping people.... at which point i'm sure the whole Galaxy will be having the whole mind blowing realisation that he was right.

How exactly would the SB be able to help if Shepard's actions are already public knowledge? Personally, I think it would look worst for Shepard if he refuses to come to trial.

how is it going to look if Shep gets SB to broadcast (do relay bouncing or something to stay hidden) speaches about how the Reapers are coming and that the Council/Alliance are fools.... yeah everyone will think he's crazy up until the point Reapers drop out of the sky onto there houses.

So how is it going to look for Council/Alliance in the end after the death of what 80% of Earths pop and 40% of total Citadel races losses?

One of the first targets in a war is the command structure. Odds are the Council or Alliance government will be judged. Posthumously. Maybe that's why TIM appears to have joined the Reapers. He needs them to conquer the galaxy for him so he can install himself as our "benevolent" and "kind" ruler.

Reverse engineering the SR2's advanced systems will help improve all the warships in the Council specie's fleets.

It sucks that I am forced to put Alliance logos on the ship. I was hoping to be unaffiliated and run my own show.

I want a 'design your own damn logo' option for ME3. Shepard is no gov't/terrorist orgainsation's b---h. It sort of annoyed me in ME2 because hello, trying to save the galaxy, how about we don't paint the hull with the logo of public enemy number one?

Please stop arguing with ExtremeOne. It's pointless. We all know it's pointless. When he posts, just stop typing. Afterall, his vision's based on movement.

As far as the OP, I'd prefer not to work "with" them, rather than "for" them. As far as my Shepard is concerned, he is his own faction now. He stopped being a part of the Alliance when he died, and the Alliance missed their opportunity to bring him back into the fold on Horizon.

Technically speaking, if you're a Spectre, you're the council's ****.

Are you kidding me?  The new council won't even see me cause they know what I did to the last council heh heh heh...

Besides when they wanted to give me the ole "Ma and Pa" routine and lecture me about my choices...well I tell ya, the original Normandy had such a bad communication system just wouldn't keep a connection.

I said the same thing about Cerberus. Except that I kept the ship they happily provided me with, because Cerberus is retarded that way.

And really, you won't be some  "Alliance slave" , because they'll be too busy fighting the Reapers to give a flying **** about your miserable ass.

But since I'm pretty much talking to a wall, telling you that will be utterly pointless, since you'll just pull a fresh fictional event that has nothing to do with the story in Mass Effect 3 right out of your ass.

No, that's because the SR2 was based of the Alliance's own design of the Normandy. It's called copyright in the real world. Cerberus blatantly stole the designs for it. The Alliance have all rights to claim what's rightfully theirs.

And Shepard has always been an Alliance soldier. Hence the "Commander" part. Hence the right to wear N7 armor. It's why Hackett asked him for help.

Oh snap!

But so far everything that's been revealed about ME3 has kind of been a no-brainer storywise. It was either go back to the Alliance/Council or become something of a glorified Pirate/Merc. Do you really want Shepard to start his own Merc band?

I still don't know how EDI is supposed to get back into the ship if the Alliance took everything apart.

It's never said that they completely dismantled the entire ship down to the last bolt.  The GI article just said it's "in the process of being taken apart, studied, and rebuilt." In any case, they could have easily removed EDI's hardware intact, such that she can be re-installed relatively easily (as long as they leave her blue box alone after disconnecting it, she'd be fine), or just left her in place for the moment and re-shackled her or whatever.

And besides, the Alliance wouldn't want to lose EDI because she knows a lot of stuff about Cerberus, if only they remove the blocks.

Well you knew Cerebus was up to no good if only because you oppose them the entire time as Paragon Shepard and work with them as Renegade Shepard so you're right from that perspective that it was a no brainer that you'd end up fighting them.

The Council has always opposed him no matter what outcome was and always refuse to see the real enemies even when there's insurmountable evidence pointing to the Reapers.  You'd think they'd get tired of being wrong after a while.

The Alliance is really the only organization that has supported Shepard's endevors over the long haul.  The only time they stopped was when he died (even locking the SR1 down was more Udina a council wannabe).  In ME1 they gave him a ship and supported him by having the fleet ready to rock against Sovreign.  In ME2 they more or less stayed the hell outa the way and kept others from getting in his way (Shadowbroker files reveal some interesting things) to let Shepard do his thing.  Can't destroy a star system without there being any kind of reprocussion, so we start out on trial...

Regardless Shepard has always been kinda a force of nature.  Not so much a "merc band" as more of a coalition of represenitive forces of the galaxy.  He just needs someone to sign the pay checks.

I agree with you on this issue Extreme. If Shep could find someone to financially back his.."Organization" he wouldn't need the Alliance or Cerberus.

That's probably the best summation on my feelings about Shepard. At this point, the smartest thing to do would be to let Shep gather their allies, juice up the Normandy, and let Shep and Co do what they do best: bring the battle and the pain to the bad guys. That's really Shepard's greatest power: they have leadership oozing from their pores and can attract the best and brightest across the galaxy. Tech experts? Check. Assassins? Check. Hell, Shep can even keep a quarian and a geth from tearing each other to pieces.

Frankly, if I were a member of a council race, I'd be the one who sent b-tchy letters once a week talking about how Shepard knows what to do, support them already.

It starts with L and ends with IARA.
