Does anyone know if the Playstation Network being down has any effect on earning trophies, or are trophies bestowed correctly even with the outage? I had issues with trophies in Dragon Age Origins when there were network issues last year (I think during the Feb 28/29 timeframe), and I never got the Platinum trophy in DAO. Now, I'm worried to advance in DA2 for fear of the same issue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

I just got the Exorcism trophy last night, so I would say no.

You will be able to sync earned trophies just fine when it comes online and you can earn them offline. The 28/29 problem messed things up since when you synced it the server thougth that you earned the trophies on the 29th which ofc didnt exsist last year.

Sony Playstation Network: Congratulations you have won a trophy "Traded In My PS/3 and all games" because I ran out of patience and felt I had to do something.
