Ran my first flashpoint tonight. I thought it was really neat and much more enjoyable than WoW dungeons.
Trooper storyline has been great so far as well. This game keeps on impressing me.

I've been respecing between heals and dps on my Sith Inqisitor so I'm broke <_< Wish ToR had dual specs.

I know what you mean ringo, seems like I spend more time healing then I do dps when it comes to groups.

For those already playing, what are your impressions so far, about the game? Is it good, does it that 'it' that makes it somehow special compared to other MMOs, is it polished (for MMO standards)?

I'm personally enthralled with this title right now. As a BioWare fan I think they've successfully melded their traditional cinematic story telling in the MMO space without crippling the multiplayer aspect. If I had to single out an "it" that this game has it would be the sense of story cohesion and progression that make the "grind" seem nonexistant. The world arcs, side quests, flashpoints, and class quests (from my experience thus far) are great because they've got the overall war narrative that binds them together in a sensible manner. I honestly think it may be BioWare's best effort thus far in creating a cohesive story atmosphere between central and side arcs.

In terms of gameplay and polish it feels great for an out-of-the-box MMO. There are a few bugs here and there but I've yet to encounter anything that has been too jarring. Lips and mouths will occasionally stop moving in a cinematic, and there are some resource nodes that are currently bugged, but overall the entire experience has felt quite smooth. I'm currently on Alderaan at level 32, I was in on day one of early access, and I haven't had this much fun leveling in an MMO ever.

A question for the people who are playing SWTOR -- how would you compare the quality of the story to that of ME 1&2 and DA:O? Would somebody that plays games primarily for the story and the companions find it enjoyable? Do the MMO aspects get in the way of enjoying the story at all?

Also, approximately how many hours does it take to complete one characters story arc?

I prefer ME 1&2 and DA:O, there is just more story in those games.

Personally, the MMO aspect does interfere a little with the game, but this is my first MMO title.

But the Sith Inquisitor and Trooper both have great tales set in Star Wars fashion, and all classes should have plenty to do for those that desire a solo-esque experience. I believe there is an avg of 200 hrs per character; 50 lvls cap on each.

As for what is included, take a look thro this link, and the main site including the interactive Galaxy map:

I'm really impressed with how they combined the single-player, story-driven experience of their ME/DA games with the mechanics of an MMO.  They pulled it off, in my opinion.  Being able to phase into a story area that's yours and yours alone makes such a huge difference, and is a definite WIN for me.

The world is fantastic, at least what I've seen of it so far (4 alts, highest only level 14).  It's very immersive, not a lot of loading screens.  I love the way BioWare has you and your group involved in the quests by way of conversation and decision-making.

I've only done one flash point (dungeon/instance) and I loved it.  To me it was like those missions you do in their single-player games that make you feel like you're some big action hero (i.e. running up outside the elevator shaft of the Citadel with your space mask on in ME1).

So yeah, I'm hooked.  I've been off paid MMOs since I quit WoW two years ago, but with SWTOR I've found something new to sink 15 bucks a month into.

Well servers are down until the launch I guess this is Bioware telling me I should sleep.

Bunch of us ended the day with Cantina dance contest and duels :crying:

Been really enjoying the game so far. Playing a Trooper, a Bounty Hunter and a Jedi Knight, all on diffrent servers. Each one has been fun so far. I'm still in the opening acts with each, but loving it. Want to make a Smuggler next, then Agent.

I really really love it. I've played a lot of MMO's and was really burnt out and...skeptical. Not anymore. Image IPB

Not too sure about the cover thing for smugglers (have two -one healer, one gunslinger) and long wait times but not all servers are up yet so...other than that I just love it.

In short, yes.

I've only played the Republic Trooper (to level 23 currently) and a few levels as the Imperial Agent, but both stories are pretty engaging from what I've seen. The background stuff (otherwise known as 'quests that aren't class specific') is less so, since it tends to boil down to 'kill X many of Y and return to me', but there's still dialog and morality choices sprinkled throughout. It's good stuff overall. I mean, my Trooper left her starter area with a pretty obvious followup objective, and I'm honestly interested to see how it'll all play out. So I'd say the story elements work just fine. It's by far the strongest part of the game, to me. Hell, even their dungeons have stories/dialog/moral choices to them, for the most part.  It's directly involved in everything you do.

Well, except for Hammer Station, the second dungeon you unlock. Which is boring, and completely devoid of dialog. That one was a snoozefest.

As for how long it'll take, I can only guess. I've been playing for six days now and I've only accomplished a small amount of my Troopers story objectives. It'd be a whole lot easier to explain if I just went and explained what the Trooper story involves, but I'm not about to do that. I'm going to put a rough estimate on around a hundred hours maybe, depending on how much of the side quests you get done along the way.

Many of the Scavenger Hunt Missions are added as a bonus when you get to an area you were sent anyway; just a way of earning some XP, and past that bonus, mining more is less than optimal. Personally, I view this as a good thing to avoid tedium.

I was also surprised how much story-centric flashpoints are, at least the one I've been in (Esseles). Also, solo-ing Ironfist with my companion at level 12 made me feel all leet.

Ah love the new "Harcore MMORPG" players. They create only dps chars and insult you playing your own way.
I usually leave groups if that king of snobs are in.
sometimes if im adventuring with my friends and the last random is such "pro" we kick him in da @ss.

Just ignore these types and continue having fun :)

If the game only was actually fun. Taris is so broken, tons of people stuck on it currently, me included. Some have been stuck since Saturday/Sunday. No help from BioWare... ''The issue will be resolved in next patch''. Before that they said they could move people off planet, but now they aren't doing anything about it.

And that was only the Headstart.

Brace yourselves for real start today. Rivers of tears will fill the universe.

Starting MMO's 3-4 weeks after the launch wast the brightest idea me and may gamer friends have given. Still cannot understand how we cen gave this decision and hold ourselves :)

It has nothing to do with launch, it has existed for quite awhile now, there's been people stuck there for days, but BioWare does nothing. People don't get to level on Taris in one day, it's 32-36 zone for crying out loud :pinched:

Are you able to create an alt on another server? This might help restrict the frustration if viable.

Yes, but I just leveled a character to 35, the last thing I want to do is to do those starting quests all over.

"Greetings All,

We are aware of the issue on Taris and we are actively pursuing this case.

We are treating this as a very high priority issue.

There have been reports that untracking all missions and turning off all
options in the map section of User Interface Preferences has resolved
this issue for some people. This is a temporary workaround and may not
fix the problem for all users.

If this workaround does not help you then please contact Customer Service via email from the support form on the
Contact Customer Service page and include the key phrase "Stuck in Taris" in your email. We will move you off Taris upon your request.

Please be advised that we do have a planned upcoming fix for this issue.

We understand the frustration experienced by users affected by this
issue assure you that the root cause of this problem will be eliminated."

They said this yesterday too, people sent tickets only got their tickets closed without answer or the answer was "Issue will be resolved in next patch, ticket closed".

When people keep complaining, they just repost this same message, doing nothing but infuriate people further.
