Merlache, that's definitely a bummer. But I'm sure launch preparations and issues are at the top of their priority list right now. Believe it or not, BioWare is not out to make your life miserable. :)

Question: Do Companions still block cursor areas (eg; elevator call buttons, loot drops, etc)?

I took a lot of hours in total and a lot of effort from my part, but I got it working had to attempt a lot of times, it was a race against the clock but, I managed to teleport myself to the fleet and the crashing stopped, not going back to Taris, never ever. :P

Question: How is player death handled in this game?

It's more friendlyish compared to most MMOs. You can choose between being ressurrected on the spot by calling a droid to ress you (the wait time on the droid increases the more often you die). Or you can ress at closest friendly base. Gear takes some damage, but I think that's it.

Edit: Lul the queues are insane.. I hate how the ''true loyalists" (:police:) have to suffer from long queues, simply because the new arrivals are too damn dumb to roll onto the lightly populated servers over the full ones.

It definitely sucks but I think it shows quite a bit of foresight on BioWare's part, personally. I'd rather wait twenty minutes (though I know there have been longer queues) to get into my server than log into an empty server day in and day out.

Its a very highly anticipated title and jamming probably two million into the servers at the same time is obviously going to be hellish. Hopefully they'll smooth out over the next week with the holidays coming up. It doesn't help that colleges are all on break and folks are using up vacation time.

I found a good user review on gamespot:

6.5 fair
Too much WoW, not enough Bioware. A betrayal of long-term fans of KOTOR and Biostyle.

Posted Dec 20, 2011 2:52 am PT

Difficulty:
Hard
Time Spent:
10 to 20 Hours
The Bottom Line:
"Disappointing"

I'll keep my review simple for now, because frankly I'm too annoyed to even spend too much time writing this. So I'll just stick with a good and bad points summery, and then edit it later if I change my mind.

I played this during the beta, and then again for the 5 days leading up to release. This is what I found:

--Good--
+ Good multiplayer, both co-operatively and PVP
+ Massive game universe, with hundreds of side quests
+ Customisation options are good
+ Good nods to previous Star Wars fiction
+ Excellent musical score, and decent sound effects

--Bad--
- Frequently sub-par voice acting (particularly from the protagonists)
- Disappointing dialogue writing
- Poorly placed plot, broken up by filler "fetch" quests
- Some story elements ruin the previous KOTOR stories entirely
- Combat seems a step backwards, even from KOTOR
- Combat animations do not seem to interact with one another often enough (mostly a case of hitting eachother over and over, not enough parrying)
- Cartoony graphics ruin the immersion and make the story feel childish.
- No statistic distribution on level up
- Companions rarely engage you in conversation
- Buying powers from vendors feels cheap, like you didn't earn them
- Crafting system has plenty of options, but feels weak
- Game does not warrant the full retail price PLUS subscription fee
- Quests are 90% absolutely dull and repetitive
- Companion customisation is limited to a number of skins, which you buy
- Large player base ruins immersion with jumping around in "ancient, undisturbed, foreboding" dungeons.
- Rips off World of Warcraft in far too many ways.
- Limited number of companions for each class
- Only able to take 1 companion with you at once (a decision which feels forced, purely because they decided to make the game online)
- Sometimes you have to queue for an hour to actually play the game
- Broken, out-dated control system
- No controller option (which is strange, because controllers worked better for KOTOR)

Deal with it!

I think 6.5 is on the low side, I'd give SWTOR up to this point between 8-8.5. The only reason I'd give it that is the sheer number of filler quests. Some of the filler quests are well done, some are not.

Crappy review, 10-20 hours is far from enough to give good review of MMO. ''Rips off WoW'', that's like the most ridiculous thing evah. The customer service is pretty bad, but before and after the Taris incident the game has been more higher quality RPG experience for me so far, than any of the Kotors or Dragon Ages.

I've been hearing a lot of bad stuff about this game. It's a shame. First DA2, now TOR. I hope ME3 won't follow the same path, but it's hard to stay optimistic... You got to wonder, what are they thinking? Why are they starting to come out with mediocre/poor games lately? It's looking as if I can no longer expect quality titles from Bioware. Time to go find another good developer of the very few who are left.

Well I didn't enjoy any of them too much, so it doesn't take a lot, also Skyrim isn't really anything compared to SWTOR, imo.

Had to alter my name choice, as the TOS stated that no names could have religious significance. Well, as most any of the names I use in gaming do have biblical origins, decided to go with Falcon (male Sith Inquisitor) at the last minute.

Wait, really? So, we can't use Mathew, Mark, John, or... uh... Luke?

Depends on whether you trust what was written. As one that has tested and played, my opinion is much different; like the stories and hope to continue when it is less crowded.

Question: Does the game present any new creative material or does it showcase the same unchanged lore that's been in the Expanded Universe for 3 decades now?

The Jedi exile, and the companions I'm not so sure about, but with Revan I do know of a specific event that deals with his fate.

You can probably wiki search the book "Revan" to discover what happens to Revan and the Exile - that's what I did. Warning: be prepared to be pissed.

What kinds of servers do some of you from BSN play on: PVE, PVP, RP, or RP-PVP?
