For the record? "Hey, remember all that stuff that happened last game? Yeah, I'm going to need you to go ahead and pretend it absolutely never happened at all, and is in fact not remotely possible" is generally just going to anger me.

I've never played any MMO, but I did play most Bioware RPGs, and while I'm not a big fan of SW I did enjoy KotOR.
So how mmo-ish is ToR? I tested the beta for a few days, but had mixed feelings. There were a lot of fetch quests, and it was annoying that you get the first companion only after hours and hours of gameplay. I had no issue with the graphics, or the VO, but I did get my ass kicked by some of the missions meant for more than one player.
Is ToR enjoyable for someone who likes Bioware titles, but isn't cut out to play online for ever and ever?
I read tons of review, but the positive ones are oozing SW fanboyism, while the negative ones are pure nitpicking, or are oozing even more fanboyism....

I'd say your experience in beta is probably as good a judgment as any on if you'd like the game.

One should get their first Companion by 10th; ship by 20th based on my small experience.
The storylines are quite enjoyable; esp like the Trooper and Sith Inquisitor paths.
There are tons of folks, but have not had too much interterference as there is no Blocking; one passes thru non-grouped PC's. I have beta tested twice, and know that it can be challenging, but solo play is viable.

- Missions so far feel more urgent than other games
- Missions can have more than one outcome which can affect future missions to a certain extant
- Some areas are less forgiving requiring actual teamwork.
- So far most "Kill X number of nad guy" missions are merely bonus objectives and not Main mission tree wich is nice.
- Combat is very different than other MMO's I have played, seeing more ranged enemies and more diverse attack styles. Also noticed some enemies actually going for cover on occasion.
Again that is from just a day or two of playing but I am having fun.

My only gripe with this game so far are the warzones. Open bracket? Really? Also Huttball is terrible.
Not a fan of Huttball myself, but it is completely optional, and some actually enjoy it. Myself; rather fly combat missions....

Oh I know, I'm just giving my opinion of it. I thought the pvp combat itself was pretty good.

And very high grade from PC Gamer wow!
If this keeps, it could be the most acclaimed MMO after WOW in the entire history of the genre

Myeah, that seemed very strange to me, too. Whilst players recieve buffs that effectively boost their stats to level 50 levels, it's not at all balanced in practice. Talent trees and learning new abilities simply throw it out of wack far too much. Smacking level 40ish sith into reactor cores with knockback attacks was probably made more satisfying by being 20+ levels below them, mind youeasygame88 wrote...

I don't mind Huttball. By which I mean 'I silently groan whenever it happens, because I'd much rather play The Voidstar, but at least it's not Alderaan'. The Steve Blum narrations could use a tone down, at least.

It may not be mentioned that much, but Drew said it was unnecessary as people would have had their own experience of those games and could fill in the blanks.
The only part I don't like is what happened to Meetra at the end. Being a wound in the force and a powerful Jedi all for... that. Tut tut, Drew.

And then killed, in an entirely stupid way.

Yeah, that.

First off, the game is huge. I have been playing for probably over 50hrs and I'm still on chapter 1. So yeah, it is pretty slow moving and the companions join you far apart. So how mmo-ish is ToR? I tested the beta for a few days, but had mixed feelings. There were a lot of fetch quests, and it was annoying that you get the first companion only after hours and hours of gameplay. You could very well play it solo through the entire game, however, if you want to do the Heroics and Flashpoint quests you will need to get some help. Personally, even though I am pretty much anti-social IRL, I find those quests to be the most fun. But if you dont like that, you can always skip them, seeing as they are after all completely optional (and there will be plenty more stuff for you to do anyway).
Yes.Is ToR enjoyable for someone who likes Bioware titles, but isn't cut out to play online for ever and ever?
Of course, *opinions opinions yadda yadda*. You might not like it, but I fricking love it! (I tried the beta twice, and only the second time did it really sell it to me. (Sith Inquisitor, F*** YEAH!) And I don't know how far you got in the beta, but personally, I think that it's when you get your specialization at around level 10 that it gets fun as hell.)

All the ones after that are WoW-alike mob grinds, and unless you've a particular desire for mid level loot or just love the combat that much, can be safely skipped without really missing anything remotely substantial.

It's probably worth mentioning that thus far, only the first flash points (Esseles for Republic, Black Talon for the Empire) actually play like a Bioware rpg with other people. They have heaps of dialogue, moral choices that direct how the rest of the instance plays out, pre-boss fight sassing periods where you can inform the fellow you're about to fight how you're going to woop his butt so hard he'll be sleeping standing up for a month, so on and so forth.

Well I've only done Black Talon, some instance where I could choose to use some armory's missile's to annihilate Republic Fleet orbiting the planet or as light side choice leave them be ( what kind of Imperial would choose the LS option here? Dumbest choice ever), Mandalorian Raiders, Boarding Party and Foundry. They were quite long imo, too long for me to completely enjoy, but the dialogues were some what refreshing when comparing to normal WoW instances. They just lack replay value imo.
