Now, in all seriousness. Do you really think SW:TOR will enter the competitive MMO market or fall in the niche with under 1 million subs?

Given that people who pretend to be nostradamus are usually unconcerned with the fate of us lowly gamers, I'm surprised you came up with some charts in a word document.

Eve has less then one million subs. It's a niche game imo since it seems to float around the 600k figure (I believe) and yes I do believe it will competitive. It all just depends on the endgame. After leveling up and questing is done that's all we have. If it's like WOW where it's raiding or arena then it will fail. I want something different and I am assuming if people are leaving WoW for TOR, like me, then they want something different to.

Crafting can count as endgame if done properly. Currently look at Eve's crafting system or SWG really great. I'm hoping TOR crafting system has as much depth. If TOR can satisfy the crafting, raiding and pvp people then it can easily be a competitor to WoW.

That's actually a very good theory, Ringo. I mainly have a WoW account because I liked the lore and story of the Warcraft Franchise.

I  stopped playing back in Feburary. I'm tired of the routine. Cataclysm really didn't do enough to change the game for me. I stuck around tried out the new content. I enjoyed the questing but it's just too much of what he had in Wotlk.

I'm on a [forced] hiatus at the moment, due to summer school. Cataclysm doesn't seem to have received much support, and I can't believe its still possible to get the kingslayer title from ICC 25-man heroic mode.

People are spending more time farming old content or achievements and that is so not my thing.

I wish we had more MMO's with less servers.
It is as if everybody forgets it takes a very succesfull launch followed by very decent amounts of staying power to keep some odd 30+ servers lively after that initial free month and release hype heat die out.

I keep dreaming of a PvP oriented MMORPG that has..say, 3 servers globally, with little to no instanced content.  In such environment, you could easily have the vibe of lively, vibrant world and community even with very modest amounts of players(say, 100k people.Case in point, Eve Online)

Virtually all MMORPGs offer a relatively small, heavily instanced world and some 40 seperate servers. In such environment, community is spread wide and thin to begin with. It will always be very easy to get that unwelcome ghost town vibe on most servers once the immediate post launch hype dies.

I wager the said ghost town vibe has knocked more MMOs in that bottomless pit of irrelevancy than random assortment of immediate post-launch issues like unfinished content or bugs.

Eve Online has probably some of the best pvp I ever played. I said I played btw not in general. It's all on one server that's it. Which really allows space piracy and mining and all that take on a whole new level.

Nicely made vid had me smiling when playing Empire music for the choices of publishers, and comparing them to Sith Lords fighting between themselves. Thanks for the link!

Q: Does non-auto attack mean Diablo style clicking to fire? I hope not, as I tired of Diablo rapidly, and cannot sustain such attacks well (eg; KOTOR mini-guns).

Yea. The thing in mmo's melee classes tend to have auto-attacks so that could take out the difficulty or challenging of having to be envolved with an encounter. Not sure what this means for the people who aren't as good with some twitch based gameplay considering in an MMO things can get sour quick.

P.s Also the Kotor mingun you could just hold the space bar I think.

Then this is not a plus for me; may have to avoid Blasters. I would hate to have to answer the phone and die because I stopped all combat.

Still, the clips show varied rates of fire from Blasters and mini-guns, so perhaps there are set RoF for a wide range of weapons no matter the clicking speed. And maybe there are auto-defenses for such things as rining phones.

That's probably the different abilities a trooper or such class is using. I'm assuming ranged weapons don't have a "rate of fire" since there is no auto attack. From what I have played your gonna have some abilites you always use for dps among others with longer coolsdowns you know like Dragon Age except no autoattack means more player input. You might like it I know but coming off WoW this can change the way a person approaches combat.

I was meaning the RoF of the Blasters and that of the mini-guns were different; the mini-gun clearly having an accelerated amt of fire. But you are correct, that the class still might affect this.

Does light sabre abilities also work this way?

Yup. No autoattacks means more player input. that's a good thing though I understand it's not great for some people.

I'm not even interested in creating a Jedi/Sith. I plan on Bounty Hunter as my first character.

I've been torn between smuggler and consular for months, I thought Return clinched it for the smuggler until the crazy lightsabre fight, now I'm back to undecided. Granted, the consular didn't do terrifically well in the fight and the inquisitor fared even worse, but I'm not a fan of knights/warriors.

Don't know how anyone can still want to play trooper after the cinematics though, that guy just can't catch a break, struggling to your feet and dusting yourself off must be part of the trooper's rotation.

I created one fan group for the game, where me and few others will try to keep up with latest news, whenever we have time. Testers probably know to follow their NDA without saying, but yeah. Don't say anything you're not allowed. :P

That was a nice weekly update. 40 companions and I think I might roll a Bounty Hunter first who could resist a Jawa with a rocket launcher!
