From what i can tell so far based on forum polls and guild searches, pvp servers will have alot more empire than republic. pve servers seemed to be alot more balanced maybe even a slight favour to republic. I will be playing on a pve server and im playing empire.

Will it result in some kind of global problem if there are too many Sith and not enough Jedi?

I'm guessing many people who start as Jedi might be tempted to join the dark side, but fewer people who start out playing a Sith would be likely to switch.

@naughty99 when you say too many sith do you literally mean too many sith as in force users or do you mean too many empire players? also remember tor has a morality system so you can play as an evil jedi or a light sided sith, same with the other non force user classes on both sides.

Hmm I still wished it was a co-op tittle more than an MMO myself, I might have got it then, but couple years ago I played some MMO's lost all taste for them, mainly because of the ussers not the games. Shame really, TOR I would have liked to have played as a Chiss Bounty Hunter.

Mute point anyways, given the Future and near range canon, we KNOW the Sith will not win. *Darth Bane and the Rule of Two* Unless George ****s up even more canon.

Maybe you should give TOR a chance, maybe the community won't be as bad as other MMOs.  The community might be bad then again it might not, and you could choose to get on a role playing server which might not have as many jerks on it.

Man good thing I didn't want anything for Black Friday this year. I had a good nights rest and Friday I woke and got ready to play. I have not had so much fun with an MMO in a long time. I have so much to say about it. The questing
especially Bioware has found the perfect way to remove the "grind" or boredom by having quests that well I care about instead of just making a grocery list of quests and knocking them out one by one. I enjoyed crafting and managed to get two companions and my ships for three of the four characters I made. Loved healing as a Sith Inquisitor but I have to say they feel overpowered considering I was in dps spec and healing flashpoints like Hammer and Athiss. Graphics really if this put anyone off I think you need to see well live gameplay pictures don't do the game justice. Obviously it's not Guild Wars 2 graphics but that doesn't make it look any less beaufitul and capitvating.  Yes this was a bump but since there probably are some people who played the beta I had to. B)
Say hello to Malcom Reynolds

My first Bioware game where I've had no problem with the paraphrasing, being able to Esc out of a conversation and start it again is a big help. I did notice that I rarely had more than three options at any given time though, I got to mid-late teens and I don't remember the left hand side of the wheel seeing any use at all.

Amazing VO though, easily the equal of any of their single-player games, perhaps some of their best yet. Something that was especially noticeable stepping straight out of Skyrim was that I didn't notice any voice recycling. I'm not saying there isn't any, I certainly hope the female trooper never needs to talk to Satele, but it's no worse than any of their other games.

Why not? Jennifer Hale doesn't oice both of them does she haven't met Satele or remember her voice. I agree this is easily some of the best voice work from a Bioware game or even game along with the great music and sound design alot went into drawing us into such great worlds and quests.

I got to beta test this past weekend and I have to say I think it is an awesome game and a novel twist on MMO's. Well done Bioware and thanks so much for the opportunity to be included in the beta test :)

First when I started I felt quite bored for first 10 minutes or so. Then you started to get into the story and the stuff. The longer you play, the better the story gets and the gameplay becomes a lot more fun. Fortunately I have it preordered. December can't get here fast enough. :)

Definitely Jennifer Hale. My trooper is male (Brian Bloom) but there definitely were some conversations with Satele because she contacts you through hologram to brief you on the flashpoint missions.

I played the beta as well. It is a fun game. My god though, everyone and their brother played a jedi on my server :)

I really enjoyed that it's fully voiced. Each class having its own storyline has my alt-itis twitching.

That was my impression as well. Starts slow but gets very good (I played an imperial agent until level 16).
And was it not so limited in time I would have tried playing each class more than a couple minutes.

I played it pretty heavily this weekend and had a great time. But some classes certainly have better storylines than others. At least in the beginning. Nearly everything Empire side started off interesting right away. Especially Bounty hunter. (Though my wife was loving the Inquisitor dialogue.)
But Republic side starts off pretty bland in comparison. Which was a shame. You need to get over a very boring start to get to the interesting stuff.

Its was also surprising to me that I found my love of a particular class had almost nothing to do with acutal abilities/playstyle and everything to do with how much I loved the voice, personality, storyline and companions.

I thought without a doubt Smuggler would be the class for me, but in practice it just didn't push my buttons. And I really didn't care for the companions I got so far, which really killed it. But after I got over the Boring starter hump with Jedi Knight I had much more fun. Loved the first two companions, and loved that I found some really snarky dialogue hidden in there for my character. I was going out of my way to be the Worst Jedi Ever and it was a blast. My astromech droid is much better at following the Jedi way than I am.

Flashpoints are also incredibly fun. (Well at least the one I tried.) They're like playing multiplayer Bioware games. It works surprisingly well, with the team rolling against each other for dialogue lines.

Anyway, the short of it is I had a great time this weekend trying out lots of things, and can't wait til headstart.

I was extremely skeptical about the game, it looked bland and repetitive from the vids and previews I watched...

Let's just say that after the beta weekend I pre-ordered it last night. The story element worked better (on me) than I ever imagined and it really did destroy the feeling of grinding from almost every mission. The VO was crazy good and the characters (at least empire side) all felt natural for the lore. I played an Imp agent to 21 and couldn't get enough of the story.

Not that it doesn't have problems, some of the classes are unbalanced (inquis a bit op and imp agent in my experience a little to micro manage heavy) and some combat mechanics were glitchy but none of it felt game breaking or unfixable so, ya, loved my time playing, and that's saying something from me as I've quit the last 4 MMO's I tried after their betas because they all felt so grindtastic.. Good job Bioware, really :)

The stories are very engaging and it feels like a good mix between an MMO and a single-player RPG. My only worries are about endgame content, but at least we can enjoy some of the other classes stories while they patch new content in. Something they definitely need to improve is texture quality, the game looks good as a whole but if you look it each individual detail it's pretty awful. Characters should ALWAYS be rendered in high quality, at the very least there should be a option for this.

The more I see of SWTOR the more I regret that they didn't made KotOR 3.

The game has everything I would totaly love in an single player game. But I have no time/money for two MMO's. Too bad.

I'm not sure to what extent they went with disabling some graphical options, but I know you couldn't use anti aliasing and some other features during the beta phases. I'm not sure exactly why they did that but I assume come launch they'll have all of the bells and whistles enabled for those who can to take advantage of them.

I personally wasn't able to play this past weekend as my video card has finally chewed through its thermal paste, but during the 11-11 weekend I had a very enjoyable time. My usual guild is all set to go with around 25 us gearing up for early access, can't wait for the 15th.

All the graphical options in the world won't work if the textures suck.  And they're pretty horrible, so unless they are very much improved in the final release, I don't see it happening.

I guess my opinion is not so high for two reasons: 1) it's an MMO and I'm not sure I want to put money down on another MMO, FFXI was my first and probably my last subscription MMO and 2) because I won't play it most likely, it took longer than I wanted to get the advanced class, I made some mistakes and had to repeat some things, and it's hard for me to get excited about something I know I'm not going to play after it's released.

But after playing Jedi Knight and trying out Inquisitor, my opinion improved over my first impression.  Also, I am upset that the Jedi side has all the voice actors I know and love while the Sith side has almost none.

Sith's got Claudia Black, Cat Taber, and Jo Wyatt.  And I'm not sure Jo Wyatt voices anyone outside of the Imperial Agent or Claudia Black outside of Sith Warrior.  And then, I don't think Claudia Black and a majority of the Sith actors put much emotion into their lines.  And that's a shame.

Actually, Jennifer Hale voices both Satele Shan and the Female Trooper on the Jedi side.  So, Satele and the Female Trooper talking to eachother means Jennifer Hale has some dialogue with herself.

I actually love it when voice actors talk to themselves.  And there are times when your character talks to Satele, so Jennifer Hale talking to herself does happen. ^^

Its pretty much what i expected, a good story driven Star Wars game with WoWs MMo mechanics, and i liked it.

Many people wont like the WoW reference, but it did make MMOs a mainstream gametype IMO. You could argue EQ did that, but WoW took it to the next level, it was easy to learn but hard to master (at least in the early years). And a lot of its mechanics work very well. I played WoW on and off since its beta and had many good times in it. Times change and things get old and stale after a while.

Voice acting and adding the whole RPG and story elements into the feature set of a good MMO works here.

Enjoyed the characters i played, favourite being the Bounty Hunter. I will play a female Agent when the same sex romances are in sometime after launch, love Jo Wyatts voice. Some classes need buffing and a slight tweak to their mechanics but i have confidence in BW.

RPGamer13: While i do love the FF game series, no one could pay me enough to play their MMOs. They seem to be, and i have heard from guildmates that they are pure grindfests with little to no story and bad mechanics. Do not base your opinions of MMOs on FF MMOs.

Flashpoints were surprisingly challenging and so much fun and a nice change of pace. What I really am surprised and love is that Bioware incorporated Crew Skills into the flashpoints also. I really hope that at higher levels that this stays the same. Example I was in the Hammer Flight (I think that was the name) and their was a broken drill but someone with a high enough slicing skill could fix it and voila a shortcut to the first boss or in Athiss a high enough scavenging skill you could fix a elevator instead of risking death and then there are things like explosives, oil slicks or gas to exploit in the flashpoints. Really great job Bioware it I was worried the Flashpoints would be too simple myself but hopefully the challenge and fun only increases at higher levels. I do feel space combat should be improved in say an expansion but I did find it fun but I still want something more. Smuggler and Sith Inqisitor will be my first two classes for each side. I'm really impressed at how fun a non-force class is.

@RPGamer Final Fantasy MMO's...well like Siven said they aren't the best examples of good mmo's. FFXI was fun for awhile but it's a grindfest and FF14 was released to early and is such a mess.

Fun times.

I'm not, I have Guild Wars.  It's just if I'm going to be paying for an MMO and if I'm not going to enjoy myself because I play solo most of the time, the cost just isn't worth it to me.  I've done some digging around and found out they like completely changed FFXI, it doesn't take months just to get a few levels anymore from what I gathered.

I don't think KOTOR will, but it did feel slow getting to level 10.  And it looks like they also locked out the skill trees for the beta.  Why could you only put points into the 9 passives at the bottom?

They weren't locked, you just didn't spend enough points in the tree. Every time you spend 5 points in a tree the next row opens up. You have to commit to a tree to get the upper stuff.

Admittedly the game could make that clearer. I only figured it out because of trees from other games.
