I'm not to sure myself. I mean, in Mass Effect 2.

I am almost... surprised in two years she went from a quiet... reclusive, shy Asari to ****ing INSANE. I dunno if this makes sense or not.

Anyone else slightly disappointed at how she turned out in Mass Effect 2? I had prayed for her as a continuing character in ME2, and I know she's still a romance, very VERY barely, but still. I just found I completely... gave up when I first started the DLC. It only took me 20 minutes to completely abandon the quest until near the end of the game where I forced it on myself to play. To me the character was not the same AT all.

Now, while I say I am disappointed, I am not at all mad about it. I thought they did a very good job, but because I was happy as **** to see her in a DLC because she was my main characters romance.. I just lost it and wrote her off as messed up.

What're others opinions on her?

She had her reasons, she went through a lot between ME and ME2.

I liked her, she actually showed some character progression. She handled it rather, humanly if I may say so myself.
Her bestfriend/first mate, was killed while sending her away to get to a safe distance, she would of deeply cared for Shepard, romanced or not. I think the fact she has almost grown up from how she was into a more determined character was a good thing. I liked it alot.

She became a better character to me in LotSB. Before that, it was just: "Shadowbrokershadowbrokershadowbroker", and that she went from shy and a little clumsy researcher to a very well advancing information broker in just two years. It can be a little jarring for some people.

Pretty much this, I say.

I liked her at the end of it. She seemed to... calm down.. almost take dozens of steps back towards normal.

But then with her looking at the screens... it was just... woah. I almost feel like she's going to go power-mad lol

When you save the galaxy and see your commander get spaced, I'm pretty sure that's enough grounds to not be shy.

I think you'll find most people around these parts have at least a mutual respect for me. Nice assumption though.

I appreciated the effort that Walters did to make her something more than just "the romanceable alien", my only problem is with ME: Redemption, where she acts like she's possessed by Jack, curse words apart. In LotSB she was awesome and no more too much out of her original characterization: simply she was evolving in something else.

Also, this.

I'll admit it was a touch jarring at first, but I warmed up to the change fairly quickly. I have separate thoughts for some of the work done in Redemption, admittedly, but in-game it was fine.

channeling her alleged "father"? or best way to be tough...is look tough...and that's what she considered part of being tough?

Yes, what witty retorts. You've clearly mastered the art of...

LoL, maybe. Finding out she's 1/4 krogan could explain much  But seriously, she looked really out of the character, not like she was trying to look badass because she was alone again, wich would have been a totally understandable behaviour.

I didn't like her development.

Archeologist to information broker is to big a leap for me to swallow.

And she also became something of a Mary Sue.

Maybe to a point. I didn't find it to be that bad because I've seen far worse in fiction. Perhaps not the best way of looking at things, but it got me through it just fine.

Granted, but I personally think that she turned a bit too much from her character in ME1. It did, however, get better in LotSB, though.

Archaeology, or archeology is the study of human society,
primarily through the recovery and analysis of the material culture and
environmental data which.....

not much of a stretch really...

but im biased when it comes to Liara

I think her character arc was done right. I think if one reads Mass Effect: Redemption and plays Mass Effect 2 with Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC it does explain her character arc pretty well.

Thanks. It was indeed a joke -- he'd said the same thing in my Pressly topic.

I don't troll. I have, on occasion, been known to mess around. But I don't troll.

Yeah, ME2 was a whole lotta WTF JUST HAPPENED, but LotSB brought Liara's character development full-circle. Remember that between ME1 and 2, her life was pretty much destroyed; she had a right to go a little bit bonkers.
