it was confirmed that Tali will return as squad member in ME3 if she survived the suicide mission in ME2, but does anyone think that she will still be alive and return to ME3 if she was not recruited in ME2?

Tali dies on Haestrom. The Quarians have a political schism because of the Geth and Rael'Zora's experiments.

I wanted to do this in my canon (getting her killed in SM because I don't like her is stupid) but losing out on 1 pistol upgrade, 1 assault rifle upgrade, the Tempest and Geth Pulse Rifle makes it hard. It's almost required to recruit Tali.

yeah it is a bit weird they jammed so many awesome upgrades and weapons into her mission

There is a pretty good reason why every character is in a life or death situation when you recruit them. So they can be easily written out if you don't recruit them.

Samara seemed pretty fine to me.

Mordin's close to the end of his life, anyway.  Samara would continue to pursue Morinth and probably wouldn't want anything to do with you.  Neither of them know you or owe you anything, anyway.

Samara would just go off-screen. There's no reason for her path to cross with yours. Same goes for Mordin, although he could die due to fighting in Omega. I mean he's a badass and all, but enough of a zerg rush could take him out.

I'm curious about the Tali thing as well just because I didn't recruit her in my Renagon playthrough, but she is alive, so theoretically I could go after her.

I'm pretty sure that unrecruited Tali=dead Tali. Nothing complicated, BW simply will have to do a little variation of "she's fallen in battle" scenario with a pair of dialogues chanced to point she died on Haestrom and not during the SM. Also Tali dead on Haestrom=Alarei destroyed under Admiralty's orders and quarians unifluencable about the way with they should deal with the geths.

How do you not recruit Tali. Everytime I play the game, it seems that I have to complete all the recruitment missions and some of the loyalty missions to get to the Suicide Mission

If not, I assume she just dies. Like Wrex if you don't recruit him.

I think you have to have at least recruited one more guy after Horizon. You're pretty much set after that.

Easy: Jacob and Miranda are automatically in. Grab Zaeed and Kasumi.  Then you're required to get Garrus, Mordin, and Jack.   Now get Grunt's tank.  At this point, either decant Grunt, or leave him in there and get one of Samara or Thane once Horizon is done.

Alternately, you can skip one of Zaeed or Kasumi and get both Samara and Thane. Same goes for Grunt: so long as you've got either Zaeed or Kasumi, he can stay in the tank and you can get Samara and Thane both.

Then just keep doing N7, Loyalty, or DLC missions until it's time to do the Collector Ship, grab the IFF, and then keep on doing the same until it's time to do the Omega-4. Activating Legion is up to you, but all you need are eight squadmembers to qualify for the endgame.

You have to have eight squad members and have done at least five missions post Horizon to trigger the Collector Ship mission, and thus start the endgame.  So if you have the DLCs, you don't actually have to recruit anyone after Horizon (Miranda, Jacob, Garrus, Jack, Grunt, Mordin, Zaeed, Kasumi=8 squad members)

Yeah, you need at least 8 squadmates to be able to pass through the Omega-4 Relay and trigger the suicide mission. You don't have to have all 12; you can just do N7 missions instead of recruiting them and the story will progress just fine. The optional ones are Tali, Samara, and Thane. Recruiting any one of them in addition to what you have already have will suffice.

Anyways, I never wanted to bring her along in ME1. Metagame knowledge aside, she was just a kid! Why was Udina polite with her, did he expect her to get slaughtered in some fight or die of some infection in the SR1 latrines? Or did he think her an asset because of the audio files she retrieved?
