Garrus' forced friendship is a bit OOC for my Shepard, but I liked the rest. I hope there will be more friendship content in ME3 (optional of course).
I found the forced friendship with Liara to be annoying.

Okay, who here loved the following moments:
1. Brohug with Wrex on Tuchanka?
2. Swapping ME1 jokes with Liara during LotSB?
3. Post-LotSB conversation with Liara, regardless of romance?
4. Giving Tali sh*t and making her blush post-LM, regardless of romance?
5. Post-recruitment and post-LM conversations with Garrus, regardless of romance?
6. Drinking with Chakwas?
7. Reuniting and goofing around with Joker?
8. Garrus teasing Tali about elevators?
9. Jacob offering to spill some drinks on the Citadel?
10. Mordin's *ahem* advice as a doctor?

Forced friendships are generally annoying if you don't like the character or roleplay that your Shepard don't like the character.

Indeed, it interfers with RPing. That said, I don't see how Garrus is a forced friendship. You can always refuse to do his loyalty mission or talk to him after the recruitment. With Liara, if you do LotSB, regardless of your romance or morality, Shepard will say something along the lines of "Come back soon" and look woefully depressed when Liara leaves the Normandy. Granted, you can skip this altogether and not invite her up but a lot of the interaction between Liara and Shepard during the DLC implies they are great mates. But I'm sort of going off-topic, as was the person who I was responding to.

I'd ask for the opposite, too.
I liked being able to play a xenophobic/racist Shepard, in ME1. In ME2, you have no choice but to be friends with aliens. It's not a waste of resources, as racism is a major topic in the ME setting, and the ME games take place not longer after the Battle of Shanxi. Racism is still ripe in the minds of several species, not just humans.
Before anyone gets pissy with me, yes, it is possible to work with people you dislike. Ever been paired with someone you don't like, for a school project? Similar circumstances. You don't like them, but you work with them, because there's something on the line (your grades). That doesn't mean you have to like them. Any friendliness you show them is insincere.
Shepard, however, is forced to be (sincere) buddies with Garrus, Liara, and other aliens. Not talking with them is not the solution, since, in cutscenes, you're forced to call Garrus your buddy, embrace Wrex, and help Liara with her mission.
Please return the ability to be un-friendly.
Well, this is a discussion thread. You can make your own list if you want. It's not like the OP is the only one allowed to put forward ideas or whatever.close2myheart wrote...
Hmm, maybe Admiral can make a wish list on how Bro-mance could be handled? Just a suggestion XD
Oh how I'd love to chat with Miranda over omnitools & shoes...

Regardless of how "petty" Shepard's racism is, racism is still a viable topic within the setting, and it's something that the player should be able to explore. It's okay for non-humans to be racist to humans and Shepard, and it's okay for non-Shepard humans to be racist to non-humans, but it's not okay for Shepard to be racist to non-humans? Why?

I meant more in the lines Bioware removing it since it went against the whole "Hero and a bloody icon" they want Shepard to be. If that makes any sense.
