When I Heard this for the first time it really made me smile. But then I saw that during the epilogue when Varric I think closes his book there is an actual picture of Shale hunting birds on one of the pages. Did the maker of that book thought that  the fact that somewhere in Ferelden there was a Golem (Who in my story actually went to tevinter to become a dwarf again) was killing pigeons in ferelden important enough to be in a book about Hawke? Or wasn't it just a book about Hawke's rise to power but also about other history from Thedas like the Warden's Tale?

Thank you for a great game bioware and especially the funny details. (;

And here is the link tot the picture. (it's in my album because I didn't know how else to show it.) ►

The book is probably an account of all of the strange goings-on in Kirkwall and the surrounding areas at the time of the mage/templar conflict and the Champion's rise to power. Perhaps there was speculation that the near extinction of pigeons was somehow related - the Seekers may have thought that Hawke had an army of golems doing his/her bidding.

The easter eggs and little nods are definitely a treat.

Its only said by Wynne that Shale went to Tevinter to try and be turned back into a dwarf but it hasn't to my knowledge been said that Shale has been turned into a dwarf.
The book shall be the main antagonist in DA3 it knows all and shall destroy all!!!

The real issue is: does it still appear if you never played stone prisoner? Which would mean Shale should still be inactive and therefore it's a RETCON!

Actually, that part saddened me to an extent that I sort of wanted to leave Shale as a statue.

Someone else merely went into Wilhelms wine cellar, rescued the people, dealt with the demon and freed Shale.  Do you think you are the only hero in this world?

No, it just means the control rod got passed on to someone else who managed to learn the true control word - after all, the control rod could only reactivate Shale, it couldn't control her. Maybe, after the darkspawn retreated, Matthias sought the merchant it was sold to out and got it back.

Haha nice catch.
I do hink it's funny as in funny Haha that the stone prisoner DLC companion is fully intergrated into DA:2 when Sebastian is not.

Should it worry me that the Warden killed Shale for betraying the team in the Deep Roads, yet the bartender still says that every playthrough? Probably. Then again, Bioware doesn't give a damn about our choices, so it's likely that Shale is alive regardless of what really happened. No big deal, given their record.

Wait a minute... I forgot the damned time jumps... When does the bartender even say that? Act 1? Yeah okay, maybe that could make sense... For some reason I was thinking that what the bartender said was related to something going on after the Archdemon was slain... like after things settled down, she went on a long quest to slay pigeons from Denerim to Redcliffe. Actually, I think I'd buy a DLC like that...

However, I have the feeling that Shale is coming back no matter what because of that book entry.

Fereldon had a Blight. The Blight poisons the land nothing grows but Blight weeds. So there is food shortage and people of Fereldon need to supliment diet. Mabari are hard to kill especially if you are weak from hunger. What fits in a pie crust? Pigeons, you know it makes sense so.........
LEAVE SHALE ALONE! SHE DOES NOT DESERVE ALL THIS BLAME!!Image IPB

A valid point. And squab is a delicacy in some places. There is probably an Orlesian recipe for squab with a rich blueberry demiglaze.

However, I think Shale is most likely the originator of the "death to pigeons" war cray (maybe not captured in the game, but captured on a t-shirt that amuses me greatly), so if she while her hands may not be bloody with guilt & feathers, she may have inadvertantly planted the seeds of dissent against the winged rats. They are most vexing creatures after all. Image IPB

Pigeon is actually delicious, it's closer to dark meat than chicken or turky.
It is quite dry but holds sauce and juice and the flavour very well.
A red wine and onion sauce soaking pigeon breasts is just so rich in flavour it makes me drool thinking about it.

I some questions for you guys just out of curiosity:
•What did you think of Shale in DA:o?
•Would you like it if Shale returns in a future DLC, expansion or Dragon age game?
If you want Shale to return do you want her to return as Shayle a female dwarf or as Shale the Golem?
•And do you think that Shale being in that book means that she certainly will be in a future dragon age related product?

And if anyone finds anything else from the stone prisoner DLC in dragon age 2 I would really like to know because I am trying to find all origins DLC related stuff in DA2.

~ Thank you in advance.

I thought Shale was great, especially her interations with Sten and Leliana. I'd be very happy if Shale returned, preferably as a golem. And yes, I think that the Shale picture means we're going to get Shale DA2 DLC.

- Shale was cool when I got to know her... great character!
- Yes, but only for imported saves where she wasn't killed at the Anvil of the Void... no resurrections for dead characters please.  And no idiotic, "she faked her death" bs either...
- Tough call... I'm going to say... Female Dwarf LI for the Warden.  And if the Warden isn't coming back, leave her as a golem.  Yeah, I'm selfish like that.
- Yes.

I liked Shale in originsDLC and would have liked her in game from begining. One of the first things I do with new chars is grab Shale, Alistair gets the helmet (noob).

Shale is welcome back anytime.

I would like to have Shale as Golem and personal quest back to dwarf, with the option to eat her while lost at sea.

Maybe, Shale is Lore now.

Kitty?

If Shale came back as a dwarf she wouldn't be able to poke fun at people for being so squishy (delicate mushroom Zevran).
Shale was hilarious, they did a better job with her than Sebastian.

If you don't activate her, obviously the Orlesian Warden buys the rod and activates her himself.
