just got the news that the game was delayed for Q1 2012, and i am kinda concerned that Bioware is having some trouble or something, usually when a company announces a delay for the next year it could mean something else rather than just the special attention of the devs, please if you know any arguments that this is not true and Bioware did not lied to us about the delay say so

No, I expected, and hoped, for a delay.

delays happen for a huge number of reasons.

my honest guess was that EA was pushing for a holiday release and the dev team wanted alittle longer. then they finally convinced the suits that competing with so many other big titles this holiday season would make it do worse. because theres ALOT of big titles coming out this fall/early winter.

its a solid buisness move to delay it even if it didnt require it from a development point of view. after the holidays theres usually a dead time where nothings coming out so it'll snag that up by itself.

plus they sorta saw how much fan lashback dragon age 2 received with a rushed development cycle. different teams i know, but still.

The delay is obviously because EA already have AAA titles poised for release for the holiday 2011. They want to make sure their games don't clash and Battlefield 3 needs to take on MW3.

Off Topic:

About MW3. Actually Rockpapershotgun said that Activision may (ONLY MAY) annouce a new ''Call of Duty Online'' game next week, and if that is true they just lost the crown this year.

Clonedzero basically listed all the plausible reasons. It was most likely a little of all those things combined. Mass Effect 3 has been playable since Christmas I believe so most of the core development has been done for a long time. Mass Effect 3 is going to be super polished when we finally get it. this also means the team will have time to do DLC for Mass Effect 3 since that is all they will really have time to occupy themselves with.

So get ready for an epic well done game with plenty of DLC to come out with it. Heck if there is time they might even put some DLC in with the main game if it won't cause another delay due to extra bug testing.

Of course chances are we will still have a few bugs. Hopefully just minor stuff.

I knew a delay would happen and as long as they release a quality title I'm happy.

If its the same kind of "awesome" that got shoveled by the cartload into DA2, frankly, no, I don't.

Haha, I was just thinking the same thing. The overdramatic title is irritating.

"Sorry for the delay, but we are doing are best to make the game less awesome because we know you hate aewsome."

While that would be funny, fans who'd be like "Say whaaaaat?"

Seriously, they aren't allowed to spill the details.

I havent played DA2 so I can't say if it was crap or not but they are two different teams so I doubt it will be crap. Also I love how people gripe about a game when according to their profile they havent played it.

Are you kidding? After DA2, I've never been more happy to see a game delayed in my life. I just hope SW:TOR gets delayed as well. No reason at all BioWare should continue to tolerate its reputation being tarnished just because some executives want to make some kind of statement or industry record by releasing three blockbuster titles in a single year (better to have an off year and sweep one under the rug, 2 out of 3 ain't bad).

I just wish DA2 had gotten the same treatment as ME3, its clear who's the red-headed stepchild in this dysfunctional BioWare family.

Until the release date is changed to "when it's done" don't panic.

There was a solid 2 1/2 years between ME1's announcement and release. Nobody ever claimed it was in development hell.

It's been 6 months since ME3 was announced, and with the delay it's set to be released in another 10. 16 months is still a less than average amount of dev time from announcement to release.

Take a chill pill, man.

Why is this such a big deal? A delay is good. GOOD! G-O-O-D!

It gives them more time to work on the game, something that was evidently something of an issue for both ME2 and especially DA2. I'd also wager Arrival was somehwat rushed (should have released it this month of May if you ask me), so you can see what happens when they don't take the proper time for that thing called: quality.

I'm thinking maybe people are getting mad simply because ME3 won't be under their Christmas Tree. So they're trying to find ways to write off the game in an attempt to console themselves.

Look if they said they were adding multiplayer or something, l I'd give the green light to nerd rage away. But literally nothing else has been said except they're "working on it".

They're not delaying the game for a year. Or even half a year. It's, at the MOST, a delay of two months and some odd days.

I doubt that a game that has such a huge fanbase as Mass Effect does will go into development hell.

It's one delay... by a few months. Try 14 years.

I'm glad there's a delay. Shows they're taking their time to get everything right.
