At least they now should be able to prevent Mass Effect 3 from having the same fate as DA II had, that's a good thing.

And I'm not that sad about it either, so I don't have to buy THREE big games in holliday, just two....one about a dragonborn, the other about a certain Drake.... :P

If its the same kind of "awesome" that got shoveled by the cartload into DA2, frankly, no, I don't.

For the last time....Different Teams.......Posted Image

From all the things that were cut from ME1 and ME2, imagine what these game would be like if they were delayed........That's what they are doing with ME3. Making sure nothing is cut from the game.....

It's hard for me to fathom Skyrim not selling decently. Everywhere I go on the internet, people are talking about it being a first-day purchase.

People say lots of things when they don't know anything about a game.  People said the same thing about Fallout 3.  Bethseda shipped 4.6 million units,  and rough math on the NPD numbers indicated they only sold around half of that before dropping off the NPD charts.

Plus,  I have other concerns with the reactions Skyrim gets,  I've had too many bad expierences with Bethseda to take things at face value.

Fair enough. I'm far from the world's premier Bethesda guru, so I'll take your word for it.

Oh you can be sure that stuff will be and probably already has been cut. That's just a fact of development.  Hell, it's true of basically any narrative form.

What's funnier is that ME3 never had a firm release date to begin with.

Good. I love delays. Increases anticipation and excitement because they have more time to really polish off the game. And what the heck is with this "development hell"? One delay = they got a new idea(s) that are awesome and must be incorporated.

As soon as ME3 takes as long as Duke Nukem to come to fruition, then you can call it "development hell." In the meantime, please stop being overly dramatic - ty.

Nobody but Blizzard delays for polish. There's some other reason for it--probably EA's launch schedule for other games. That and not wanting to go up against the likes of Skyrim, or even against Bioware Austin's TOR.

But regardless, they now have more time to polish, so who cares?

They also have more time to implement multiplayer. ;)

I think something like Half-Life 2's development time is what is required, at minimum, to declare something went into development hell for a while. And we're nowhere near that, much less at a DNF level.

Frankly, I welcome the delay - it means they're at a solid two years of development. Heck, they could delay it until winter of 2012 and I wouldn't mind.

The only reason why the game isn't coming out for another two-three months is because the developers are changing a major aspect of the game. If the game was coming out in November, they would be spending the time right now to make any minor changes and patches, because around June-July they would start marketing it. (Learned this in business class)

They are probably changing the combat system again, or something like a whole new ending. I don't know, but I will be pissed if they ME2 combat system returns. Cover in a firefight is important, but if you have shields, it shouldn't be VITAL. ME1 there was a mixture of run and gun and cover, ME2 completely got rid of that.

They probably are changing the combat system because they said melee was going to be more integrated into combat.

just got the news that the game was delayed for Q1 2012, and i am kinda concerned that Bioware is having some trouble or something, usually when a company announces a delay for the next year it could mean something else rather than just the special attention of the devs, please if you know any arguments that this is not true and Bioware did not lied to us about the delay say so

It could also be for some financial reason for the new fiscal year, starting with ME3 would be good in EA books.

Anyway, a delay is a good news, the team is very experienced by now, the tech didn't improve a lot since years and it's not like they started to think about making ME3 after ME2, ME is a huge project started years ago, they always planed to make a ME2 and ME3 when ME1 was released, so the pre-prod should have been good.

Video games rarely come out with 100% of what the creators wanted to put inside, a few month of delay is very good, it's mean less cut contant for the original game (from small item to wider area), more improved / polished stuff.
..... unless they plan to use that time to dev dlc to be ready for the launch .... if they are free for download like zaeed etc, i don't care.... but if it turn to be another sebastian rip off...

"Earth is burning. Striking from beyond known space, a race of terrifying machines have begun their destruction of the human race."
"Today we have confirmed that Mass Effect 3 will be released in the first three months of 2012."

Should I be scared of this?

YMMV, but considering that some of the "awesome" started off in ME2 and spread to DA2, I don't trust reports of "awesome" being added, different teams or not. Awesome would be some missions like the ones that were allegedly once in ME; the teasers still exist on youtube, choosing between answering a distress call from Noveria or heading to Caleston. Who knows? "Awesome" could be endlessly respawning husks that not only crawl out from under the flooring, but drop off the ceilings or parachute from the sky. I have no faith in "awesome". I'm waiting to hear Shep's thinking like a general and fighting like a spartan with an "awesome" button.

Needless to say, I won't be pre-ordering this for any reason. If the pr department thinks about it, they might want to ban the use of "awesome", at least for a while.

It's not like BioWare delayed the game to Q4 2012 or something...

Instead of Q4 2011 they delayed Mass Effect 3 to Q1 2012, not a long time in between but they probably delayed it for good reasons.

Awesome is, well, awesome.  Awesome buttons, however ...

Seriously, the delay shouldn't be a surprise to anyone and ultimately it can only be a good thing.
