I've already been through the thing ending with a fight with a witch. Somehow got out of the tower and when I go back the doors are sealed again..............haven't been able to get in since. Any help would be seriously appreciated.

You shouldn't have been allowed to leave, since the double doors on the first floor would have trapped you inside. This quest would have ended after defeating Uldred.
Do you remember how you were able to leave? That should have been impossible. Your game may be bugged.
