Specs: Windows 7 64 Bit. Account is administrator.

Running: Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition Steam Version.

Problem: So, I poked around a bit and realized that, at least as far as I can see, all my problems start from the fact that the DAUpdater Service isn't installing on my computer. It fails when I manually do it and doesn't install when I run "DAUServiceSetup_Steam" in the redist folder from the install. (The Setup just hangs and doesn't do anything. The details option doesn't show any information. It's title says "completed," however it doesn't actually let me say "next" or anything). And since it doesn't show up in the services menu...

I'm not entirely sure how to deal with this one, and I've exausted what seems to be all the posts I can find in this board. Maybe someone else could give me a hand whose in the same position as me but who can actually play the stuff?

Also, I'm somewhat running under the idea that a save which played with DLC bought content can work in the Ultimate version. If that's wrong, I don't really care(I'm doing all this so I can do a re run anyhow), but It'd be nice to know.

EDIT: Just to say, my computer CAN play DA:O. I finished both DA:O and Awakening on it without trouble. I just got the Ultimate Edition because I'm trying to switch over to Digital Download for Computer games, since the disks are troublesome to keep track of.

Did you completely uninstall the original versions of Origins and Awakening before installing Ultimate Edition?  And reboot before installing the Steam verison?

I did completely uninstall (Kept my saves, though), though I didn't restart for a little bit as I was messing with it. In any event, I just restarted a little bit ago, and it's still not showing up.

Given your original description, it seem the Steam-related files are not running properly. I don't have this game via Steam, but I think you can validate the installation through the Dteam desktop client?

Other than that... you can try a complete uninstall and reinstall.

Validate it with the what? I went ahead and redownloaded it with steam (Which does the reinstall thing anyway), but I'm getting the feeling that it's still lagging, since the thing that covers the service is still hanging.

Validate may not be the right word... something link Verify the intergrity of installation"?

I find it a little odd that that would be the issue, but...

Either way, I meant that I don't know what program (or method) you're talking about.
