When it's done, that's the idea.  I'm still trying compile all the gameplay/story segregation issues. 

Edit:  That and I'm in a Football Manager routine now, I can't not play it.  So it'll be a while.

I think "renaissance" might be pushing it, if only because of the real-world connotations. I think Origins was definitely more toward the zenith of its formula, but I also think DAII's formula is a much improved foundation.

I think that perhaps DAII's main problem was that it tried to be revolutionary from a platform of evolution. It really tried to sweep the formula away and build a better game from scratch. But it was an incrememntal update from Origins in terms of technology.

If they had had a longer dev cycle, they could have started from scratch, which would have been better given what they were trying to do.

DAII is clearly derivative of Origins... it's not like they turned it into Mass Effect. But what they did was take Origins and build on top of it. What I think they should have done is rebuild the ruleset and the engine from the ground up. They'd have created a game still very much like Origins, but able to more adequately support the weight if its differences.
