If instead you chose to support Ser Varnell earlier, you will have the option to support Petrice and her zealots, in which case she will not be killed by the Qunari, and the Grand Cleric will believe what Petrice is saying about the Qunari, but the Grand Cleric will still strip Mother Petrice of her title, saying that she went too far. Later, after you leave the Chantry, Petrice will tell you that if you ever need her support, she will be there to aid you.

Yeah... I know. Psycho zealot chick s really hard to support! Personally I really want a "stick a Biscotti in her eye" option with Patrice. She is the focal point of the Qunari hatin'. However, it could/would give the Devs the chance to make the "hero" the catalyst by Martyring Pat! Which would have been a wonderful plot twist!cihimi wrote...

Seriously?!
I just... wow... I can't imagine ever doing this and getting this result XD. Her insane zealotry infuriates me, and endangers me, my companions, and the entire city. I just can't support her...

Snakes taste like chicken..
I don't know some people miss alot in games ...like him, Petrice send hawke to an ambush with the hope of hawke showing up DEAD so her plan of attacking the qunaries had some purpose and yet he wants to side with her .. some people want to save Duke Prosper it doesn't matter he wants to kill hawke and on top of that this people complain that cant keep the scroll or not able to kill tallis. rofl

The Qunari are the Dragon Age equivalent of the Taliban, wishing to convert everyone by threatening executions and war. I don't blame her for hating them so much. The very idea of giant freaks who want to execute people and enforce a religion that makes everyone act autistic like "Sten" is infuriating. Humans are supposed to have more individuality and flavor in their lives than that.

For an aggressive mage character, Petrice is a good ally. I'm not sure what's so bad about her. In being vehemently against the Qun and trying to find a better route for Sarrebas mages...
I think you missed the point of her Act 1 quest (easily done. The plots are quite the tangle, even if you're paying close attention). She wasn't actually trying to save the Sarrebas mage; she set the whole thing up as a trap. She wanted you to get caught in the act of trying to free him and be killed by the Qunari.
You might be able to find common cause with her if you are also strongly anti-Qunari, but she is, at the very least, a wildly loose cannon for her cause.

Yeah, I know that, but at the same time.. she says "she's new to this", and thought hiring someone from Lowtown was expendable. She didn't necessarily want the Sarrebas to die either.. just that it'd be beneficial if it brought attention. She saw it as a win-win situation.
For a priest, she's pretty pragmatic.
Her cause is moderate on mages though. Her actions appeal to the bigger picture. If you can get past her attitude, then her words carry weight. "Someone needs to think of eternity." The bigger threat are the Qunari.
I don't find her a loose cannon at all. Relative to most people, she's a loose cannon, but the reality is that people are just sitting on their asses about the Qunari situation. So she's simply "doing something". If that's a loose cannon, then so be it. Grand Cleric Elthina is a one of those overly neutral characters that make no difference on the world. Too nice for their own good. Petrice is a person of action. She's not a nice person, but I can respect her for taking a stand and being the first person to stir things up. Only her and the Arishok know a conflict is inevitable. Might as well get it over with.
I ****ing hate the Qunari. For a fictional group, they really get under my skin. lol. Everything they stand for is exactly what I dislike in real life. That lack of individuality and enforced social roles. They all remind me of stoic cops and school principals who think their **** don't stink and can't be fun about anything. So I like siding with her at least.

What about the Qunari insane zealotry?
It just so happens the arishock didn't use me to setup a narrative to get their own ignorant belief fruit. The arishock seems to be able to handle his own dirty work, by utilizing his own platoon, where as the chantry hypocrite uses concern and compassion of others to get their dirty work done. Qunari are bad yes but Patrice is a conniving scumbag. At least the arishock can look me in the face before he goes on his zealot mission. Just saying. Sorry to necro. Heh. But I would have beheaded her myself if I could have.
