I think they were bad and felt like an immersion breaker to me. They gave a constant feeling of déjà vu. Did or didn't I do this quest before? In the end I had no clue what quest I was doing.

Me too! I actually got confused between one quest and another.

It also doesn't help that some parts of a dungeon are sealed off and still show up on the map. When I "explore" the dungeons ("Sometimes I poke through crates, too. You know, for extra credits." - Conrad Verner) I often get disoriented that way. ;)

It also doesn't help on NM setting, that AoE spells are all but useless in many areas, because many areas are about the size (relatively speaking) as my living room. Imagine spiders dropping down, they are 3x the size of me, in a small area, OK, now my options for fighting back have been gimped by 3/4 of my choices if I am a mage and do not want to hurt my companions..

I'll echo what many have already said.
- recycled areas
- way to many meaningless fetch quests
- removal of an actual tactical camera (seriously DA2's camera is asstastic)
- Lack of choices affecting the actual game since no matter what plot choices you make the game plays out the same regardless.
- Bad plot pacing due to a rushed development cycle. (I surely can't be the only one who got annoyed at what a big deal was made out of the deep roads expedition for it to end up being 2 small rooms attached by a narrow hallway and lasting all of 3 minutes)
-Combat feels way to spammy.
-Terrible encounter system. (kinda hard to run a tactical fight when you have ninja's dropping out of the sky then decimating your mage in .02 seconds.)

Bottom line the game could have used a good 6 more months in the oven if not more.

A bit of an oxymoron on the title, but I'll try to speak in 'facts' and then add 'Oh, this is bad!' at the end.

The oft-cited repeated enviornments.

An increased amount of enemy group attacks made by ninjas who look and fight the same are found more than in Origins.

Fetch & kill quests are present in the game at a more increased rate than in the sequel.

Lack of ability to choose your race/class like in the previous game.

The development time was less than two years.

The previous lead designer quit ( paraphrased ) "because it's not the type of game [he] want[ed] to make."

Plus, retcons.

Also, this:

Dragon Age: Origins
• 1,000,000 Words
• 1,000 Cinematics
• 1,000 Characters
• 56,000 Spoken Lines
• 60 Hours of Gameplay

Dragon Age II
• 400,000 Words
• 2,500 Cinematics
• 500 Characters
• 38,000 Spoken Lines
• 40 Hours of Gameplay

@JabbaDaHutt30: I wonder how many of those 400K words are spoken by the player character. There is also that intonation system which is supposed to follow your friendship/rivalry options (which was hard for me to actually notice - even though I have completed the game in several styles). It would nice to know how many words were actually spoken by your companions and other NPCs. I guess that would make the difference between DA:O and DA2 even more shocking. ;)

I hope that the intonation system doesn't return in DA3. I think it would be better to use the resources for meaningful replies - like recognition of the PC's class and which side she has chosen (or DA3's equivalent thereof). It was nice that the templars bowed down to my blood mage, but also a bit odd... I used blood magic throughout the game and nobody cared. ;)

I notice the "fact" list is noticeably shorter than the "opinion" list.
