Give me FACTS about what is technically 'bad' in this game...

@ OP
*Now* do you see what I tried to tell you within the first two pages of this thread? What I told you would happen, happened.
You set out to teach all those with legitimate concerns a "lesson", so that we see the errors of our way and - in your words - Shut Up. Those were basically your own words. I told you it was a wrong move, and doomed to insta-failure, as well as the highly realistic anticipation that it would serve only to reinforce the negative.
I don't like to say this, but I told you so.

Hmm funny, the OP asked for factual responses, all of the responses apart from the recycled areas have been entirely subjective, and maybe the criticism of mage Hawke not facing sanctions on his/her use of magic as well.
When the only defense one can rally for a game's failures is "Well that's just your opinion!", it isn't a good sign.
I mean, it's true that me saying Dragon Age 2 has a disjointed failure of a story and completely underdeveloped characters -is- subjective, it's just as subjective to say that Star Wars: Episode I is bad, or Twilight. There are typically certain standards to which people hold works of fiction, and by the average standard DA2 fails.

Whatever these standards are, given the average DA2 score from said critics is ~5-9 points lower (depending on the platform) than the average score they've given DAO, it'd appear DA2 falls shorter when it comes to meeting them, relatively.Realmzmaster wrote...
Interesting! What is the average standard for works of fiction? Unless you are talking about movie critics who can see the same movie and come to widely different conclusions or video game reviews who gave DA 2 everything from 60% to 94%. I can only assume that different standards are being used.

And as others have pointed out in earlier threads, just because a game maybe "technically" sound doesn't make it a fun game to play, it just makes it a game that you can play without crashing or having bugs, or technical gaffs etc.

An average standard I assume is one that can quantified. Therefore the average standard must be based on something. What is it? Are we assuming that the average standard for blockbuster movies is Titantic or Avatar? And the average standard for literary works of mediveal fantasy fiction is Lord of the Rings or the Chronicles of Naria?

I base my average movie standards on the following
Comedy;
Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike back.
Action:
Equilibrium, 300.
Sci-fi:
Serenity
Fantasy:
LoTR

Personally, I think that comparing two different kinds of movie is just as fair as comparing a FPS to an RPG, and then ask the fan of the FPS to rate both.
It should be more in the lines of "Which movie do you consider a better one, Star Trek the New Generation's first, or Star Trek Enterprise's first?" Sorry, I couldn't think of any other "same type" movies. It's 6:30 am here, after all.

Though the loot bit brings up a good question. Where the hell do they store it? They have no visible backpack so the only logical explanation is that they shove it up their ass and take it out when needed.
Welcome to every computer RPG ever. Except Dungeon Siege. Which had a poor overworked mule.
Elder Scrolls:Morrowind also makes the exception. It had a pack rat.

The Star Trek Reboot to me was a better movie than the previous movies with the next generation cast, and dare I say, the original Star Trek cast? It was a pretty good story imho, and decent writing.
I still like the old movies.. "KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHN!"

More mainstream action and a story that could be more easily followed, also more complete as a seperate entity instead of part of the whole.
I could run parallels here, but I won't =P
Also on the inventory subject:
http://www.dandwiki....:Bag_of_Holding
Who holds the average standard then? Because you think it fails, and I don't. As lots think it fails, and lots don't. I don't see that averaging out tbh. "Average" is a useless thing to begin with, it says nothing in the end.Everwarden wrote...

I'm still trying to understand the complaints of people pointing out that heavy, 2-handed weapons aren't being wielded realistically in battles involving magical beings raining down lightning and fire from the heavens upon demonic entities from a DIFFERENT PLANE OF EXISTENCE.
Really?
haha, I find those complaints amusing. Most of the physical combat is unrealistic. heck look at duel weilding now.
What was unrealistic about rogues? Aside from the poorly done smoke bomb-to-backstab attack that looks somewhat like teleporting.
Rolling to an enemy position for a better attack is realistic.
Ah, but is it realistic to jump 20 feet up into the air while holding 2 daggers, and then dropping down without breaking your legs?
Jumping 20 feet up? That's exaggerating it more than a bit. They jump 2 or 3 feet in the air and maybe jump across 15 feet to their target, which is only realistic if you're building up momentum. I've done it before in my Gym classes, and even without momentum I managed to jump a little less than 10 feet.
You didnt do it with 2 swords, armor and a whole bunch of loot strapped to you lol
Again, this is an opinion. Not a fact. This aspect does not make it a FACT that it is a bad game. This, again, is an opinion. Andraste's dimpled butt-cheeks you people need to learn to f***ing read the title of a topic.
I was just pointing out that your prowess at long jumping in gym class in the 1990's, has nothing to do with the game's mechanics per say, and swearing does not make you look intelligent, it has the opposite effect.

To an extent. Reviews are still subjective, but there are -some- near-universal standards that apply to fiction. The point I'm trying to illustrate is that the "it's all subjective, therefore DA2 is fine" line that keeps popping up is a bad argument.
Therefore the average standard must be based on something. What is it? Are we assuming that the average standard for blockbuster movies is Titantic or Avatar?
Well it's a hell of a lot easier to give the average standard of what is -not- good than what is, and I can do that pretty easily: http://www.rottentom...oward_the_duck/

And factually, placing Auto-saves after cutscenes that enter batles may need to be done more often; recommend every time. This would save a lot of time on the reloads.
