Because despite your personal attacks and trolling on the OP, the thread is a valid discussion. If you can't handle that like an adult, perhaps you should take your leave of it.

Your treatment of OP was completely uncalled for. If anyone deserved being reported in this thread it's yourself, Phaedon, and Vez04.

If that is the case, it's a very strange choice to make.

I doubt that Bioware is able to produce a top tier multiplayer experience in 4 months. So what is worse? No multiplayer at all or a bad attempt at it?

As several people have pointed out earlier in the thread. Bioware had a job posting for a multiplayer developer to work on the Mass Effect IP. This was June 2010, almost a year ago. Whether the job was filled or not is unknown, but multiplayer coming to Mass Effect is not an if, it's a when. And it has been a long time in the making.

what could they do for multiplayer? i dont have much hope for me3 after recent comments + me2 so i wouldnt mind it but i mean i just dont think me2 is a good shooter for "team deathmatch" type online. i definetely think mass effect is more co-op suitable. any ideas ??

Then, why not announce it during the big media blowout with game informer? Things dont add up here.

Game Informer was not the big media blowout. That will be E3 and later. And besides, as Chud himself said: it's not ready to see the light of day yet, so they have nothing to announce. That is hardly a "no" set in stone as the forum gospel squad has declared.

Let's not forget that Bioware swore up and down for years that "Mass Effect is Xbox 360 and PC only." They even trotted out that line within weeks/days of Mass Effect 2 PS3's announcement. We all know things can and will change with Mass Effect.

Game Informer had the exclusive reveal. That is pretty big.

Skyrim did it, DAII did it.

I think you're deluded if you honestly believe Game Informer's rough, initial reveal will be the most substantial promotion of the game. I don't even know what else to say to you if that's the case.

Also, I am not saying multiplayer is definitely in. I'm just saying Bioware have obviously been considering this angle for well over a year; it's hardly some tacked-on afterthought.

I cant see them introducing multiplayer at the end of a trilogy where the main focus is on one character, Shepard. ME IP does not necessarily mean ME3, considering they'll probably branch off after the end of Shepard's story.

If they do introduce multiplayer, i hope it is in future games and not ME3 where it wouldnt make much sense. Who wants to play, say Jack when the story is about Shepard?

That's my feeling too. It would feel contrived and forced. And at the same time, it wouldnt add much to the game.

Game Informer had the exclusive on several game franchises? How is that rough or partial? First screens, first details, first actual information instead of rumors. E3 is big, but it's shared between several publishers and franchises. If you have a MW3 reveal at E3, Mass Effect information will be easily overshadowed.

I wouldn't dismiss something like GI so easily.

Either way, we'll see how it all turns out at E3. =]

Ugh... unless Bioware can give us stellar multiplayer, I strongly suggest they refrain from it in ME3. The ONLY reason that Bioware is still kicking is because the company brings its own specialties to the games they make; they didn't get this far just by imitating superior games made by superior shooter developers.

And bringing it to the very last game in the series? Reminds me a lot of Fable 2's "revolutionary" co-op disaster.

I will say (to paraphrase) that "We don't know how to to incorporate it yet," doesn't sound like something they've been actively planning and working on since June 2010 and "Its something we'd like to do as company in the future," sounds hardly immediate. If they were planning multiplayer since a year ago I think Casey would have played his cards closer to his chest and just said "we're not prepared to talk about that right now."

Its as close to a no as I think you're going to get in the realm of corporate speak.

That and I suspect the delay has nothing to do with needed development (though I'm sure that they'll use the extra time to slip things in) and everything to do with shifting out of a crowded holiday season.

They did the same thing last year, with ME2.

As long as they don't totally destroy the main story...I guess it's not such a bad thing. I mean, as mentioned before, MP will most likely attract those COD fanboys and whatnot. Those players will most likely end up playing the main game too, and perhaps they'll realise how much a shooter/RPG is actually pretty good. (If they don't destroy a lot of the RPG elements in the process...God, I hope not.) and then BioWare gets a huge audience and everyone's happy. (Heh, especially EA...) I'm sure many of us are scared if they add MP that it will take away from the main game, but what if it's just an added "bonus" feature that won't affect us at all? That would certainly appeal for a "larger audience".

The fact is they would not release this at a GameStop conference. I work there it's always confirmed stuff coming out soon to educatenyou on selling it. Plus with E3 less than a month away they wouldn't release this there. It's fake

Oh really? And that's why we got to try out PS3 move a long time before release? And future games for it, and info on the future games to come that we weren't allowed to share with anyone. (That is the only EB games conference I could join, all the others are managers+ and they go to Australia almost every month.)
I dunno about your GameStop, but our EB team is awesome.

I just want to say that if this supposed mutiplayer is done well it will be great for Mass Effect. It will sell more, it will a longer lifespan, and it will get more DLC. All those things are good. The only bad thing about it is that the single player MAY see less attention. But it's bioware. Have a little faith.

QFT

Taking away the attention from the single player, that's my fear as well...You're right about it being BioWare and hopefully they won't let that happen.

For those who have reported this thread, I have looked at it (several times over the last 11 hours or so), and obviously I have not locked it.

If you reported this thread, thank you for doing so, and consider this as an acknowledgement that it's been reviewed.  If you've gone beyond that, posting accusations of trolling, please stop (Severyx and Vez04, for example).

As to the merits of the OP's information, I think most people are smart enough to judge it's credibility for themselves.  I point to this comment as an example:

Thank you for looking over it, and seeing that it isn't what people assumed it was. (A troll thread)
You can all believe what you wish, I just thought this little bit of information that was found was to be shared among those who care about ME. (If you choose to believe it.) I'm sure E3 will explain most of it. And no, I won't say "...I told you so", if they do happen to come out with MP. :P I'll just be glad knowing whatever approach they did to try and draw this "larger audience".
