Hello,

I'm trying to install Dragon Age Ultimate Edition on a PC with Windows XP SP3, unfortunately the installation freezes during the installation (after swapping to Disc 2), I'm forced to do a Hard Reset.

Any ideas?

The version is "Dragon Age Ultimate Edition" packed in retail disc, did I mention it runs fine in Win7 but not in XP? Patch version is 1.04, which came shipped with the game, I'm running this on a AMD Phenom 9850 QuadCore 2.5ghz, 4GB RAM, ATI Radeon 4600 HD Series (I don't see why you need the video card chipset since I can't install it!), Realtek HD Audio, again, it's Windows XP SP3 32-bit, no mods installed.

Tried to run the setup with Windows 2000 compatibility, no go, the installation freezes my pc after swapping to the second disc, I'm force to hard reset the pc, tried to copy the installation to the Hard Drive, no go.

Should I say I'm really upset my EA poor quality on their products?

If the PC has more than one DVD drive, what happens if disk two is in DVD drive 2?

Or can you prevail on a friend and borrow an external DVD drive to use when it's time to switch from disk 1 to disk 2?

In addition to Gorath's suggestions, here are a few random things to check/try:

1) Make sure your Windows user account has "administrator" access... this usually isn't a problem with XP, but it's worth checking anyway.

2) Dragon Age should put a log file into your User/Documents folder called DragonAge.log. There may be a clue as to what's happening in that. If you want, copy and paste it into a personal message for me, and I'll have a look.

3) You might try reinstalling with your virus scanning software or Windows Defender (if you're running it) turned off.

If none of the above, or Gorath's suggestions work, you can contact EA support directly at support.ea.com.

Antivirus turned off, I only have one DVD drive, already tried the external dvd drive, nogo, the DragonAge.log is empty, yes empty.

I will give EA Support a go, but I have little faith on them.
